I have no idea what to do with my dress, now that we are post-wedding. I’ve thought about selling it, thought about saving it… At the very least, I need to get it cleaned and preserved. The place I bought the dress wants about $700 for cleaning and preservation (!!!!). What services have y’all used for dress cleaning and preservation? If anyone has a NYC-NJ recommendation, that is useful, as well.

I would pay a professional photographer to capture every last detail of the dress, then sell it. Ask friends who have been married 5, 10, 20 years for their opinion.

That’s a possibility @cant_wait. We’ve got a few weeks until the pictures comes back and I will have to see what shots our wonderful photographer got of the dress.

I had my dress preserved here. It was less than $200 and very quick.

If you don’t already have/ haven’t finished having kids, you could keep it to get a christening gown made from it? Or something meaningful like that? It could become a family heirloom that way…

@aunt pol: What a lovely idea. I actually have a ton of extra fabric leftover from the dress because I had my train chopped off, and I had ordered extra fabric for some alterations. I will think of using some of that fabric for a purpose like what you mentioned!
