What do/did you do with your engagement ring during the ceremony? I remember my best friend swapping hers onto her right hand so that her left hand was free for the wedding band. Is this normal? When do you move your engagement ring back onto your left hand?

Most people I know do that, put their e-ring on their right hand and switch it after the ceremony. I don’t really like that way just in case you forget to switch it and you take your pictures with your rings seperated.
I also know some people who just keep it on their left ring and put the wedding ring on it front of it, and after the ceremony they just switch the rings to the wedding ring it first. I like this better because even if you forget to switch it, you still have both rings on the same finger.
Since I have a 3 piece set (e-ring, wedding ring and anniversary ring) I will be wearing the anniversary ring (which looks just like the wedding ring) then my e-ring, and then my FI will put on my wedding ring, so I don’t even need to switch it around. This works out best for me because we are taking most pictures before the ceremony, but I will still have at least 2 of my rings on.

@Brace2014: I was planning on doing the second way you said. To wear it on myeft hand & then just switch.

I’m planning to wear it on my right hand during the ceremony. .. not too worried about forgetting to switch it over after the ceremony…I’ve been in five weddings and in each one, right after the ceremony, we as bridesmaids all wanted to see the bride’s hand with both her rings. I think it would be pretty hard to forget to make the switch.

I wore it on my left hand like normal and he put the wedding band on top. I just switched it after the ceremony.

I plan on wearing it on my right hand and making the switch. I really don’t think I’ll forget to switch it right afterwards. I’ll be too excited to see them together!

I was going to wear it on my right hand but i borrowed my grandmother’s rings from my mother instead and wore them on my right hand. So my mum wore my engagement ring for the service and i put it back on during the signing of the register.

I am wearing it on my left hand for the ceremony and switch the rings after.

I put it on my right hand shortly before I walked down the aisle, then right after the ceremony ended, switched it to my left.

I left it inside the venue tucked away (our wedding was outside).
Would have worn it on my right, but instead I wore a blue Swarovski ring as my something blue.

@RainStorm: i plan to wear my e-ring down the aisle and just let FI put my wedding band on top of it. I’ll switch them before the reception. no biggie.

The way my wedding band is curved means I think it looks better on top of the e-ring anyway, so I’ll just leave my e-ring on my left hand and not need to switch it 😀
