Hola Bees! I was able to get my daughter married off on December 1st as planned. But not without a hiccup or two. The biggest one is the fact that the venue got the time wrong by an hour and it all went downhill from there. I believe I’m justified in asking for some fees back. I’m just not sure how much.
Rental time for Rose Garden was from 3-5
Rental time for Boathouse was from 3-11
Venue employees were supposed to show up at the boathouse an hour prior to our rental time to set up 17 tables and 92 chairs according to the layout I supplied the venue. Conflicting reports put the one and only employee who showed up there between 3:15 and 3:40, after we had to track him down. When he got there and started to set up, I approached him about being late and he stated that his paperwork said our rental was from 4pm-Midnight. We each went in search of our paperwork and his was wrong and mine was correct. Friends and family pitched in to set up it the tables and chairs while I called my daughter at a nearby hotel and told her we were behind an hour. Ceremony was supposed to start at 3:45.
It all went downhill from there
Ceremony ended up being at 4:45. A short and sweet under 10 minutes.
No professional photos in the Rose Garden because by 5pm it’s dark and there were no lights in the garden. Pro Photos were scheduled between 4-5.
Parking passes the venue mailed to me were NOT valid for the rose garden and it was possible that guests vehicles could be towed after I received a call specifically telling me that the passes allowed us parking on the entire street. After giving out permits and assuring everything their cars were safe, we had to retract that.
The venue did offer to allow us to stay until after Midnight however guests were already given notices saying the reception was from 5-11. We were cleaned up and out of the venue by 10:30.
I received my deposit back today however I think I’m entitled to some of the rental fees back.
