What to expect at a trunk show?

In my experience it will be like a normal appointment but you might get some attention from a Maggie representative as well. A warning about new season trunk shows though: sometimes they only have the dresses that the models wore so they are REALLY small. I’m a size 6-8 and my top choices were all S14 dresses which made things interesting. I could just get them on but it was sometimes hard to imagine how it would look in my size.

I bought my dress during a trunk show and it was packed!  Since it was so busy,I was only allowed to try on about 7 dresses and only got one hour.  I was very hurried and couldn’t spend a lot of time  in one dres so I could get to the rest.  This is just my experience at my bridal salon. I  didn’t but a dress from the trunk show but they still gave me 10%  off  the dress I bought..

@futuremrsk18:  I went during an Allure Trunk show and I went early enough so it wasn’t really busy. I tried on a few Allure gowns and some from other designers. If I got an Allure they were gonna give me a discount. I tried on about 13 Dresses total. My consultant pulled some for me and I showed her pics of ones I really liked and she pulled those as well. I ended up buying one she pulled, but I did have a pic of it that I didn’t show her because I hated the bow in it. It ended up being removable! I had a great experience. Good Luck!

@futuremrsk18:  That’s definitely early enough. Mine was at 11 too! Most if the samples I tried on were 8-12. Most of them tied or zipped all the way. I was so surprised they did. You always here wedding dresses run really small. I figured I would be in a size 16 or so. I’me between a 10 and 12. I ended up getting a 12 because the 10 was a tad small. I hope you find the dress of your dreams. Happy shopping!

@futuremrsk18:  I went to a trunk show at a small salon, was the first appointment of the day, and was the only person in the salon besides the consultant and the designer! I was literally the center of attention, and the designer texted pictures to my sister throughout the entire appointment.

And of course, a 10% discount didn’t hurt anything either!

@futuremrsk18:  If it’s by appointment only then yes you should for sure have a consultant!  I bought mine from an Allure trunk show but I had a very opposite experience from the “typical” – very dedicated consultant and an almost empty store.  I got 10% off on the dress for it being a trunk show and they were all out and on display out of the bags which made it helpful to pull things.

For what it’s worth, I’m a street size 8 also and everything fit me perfectly.  Ended up ordering a 10 in the Allure.

@futuremrsk18:  Oh gosh I was so worried about the same thing.  I think for me it helped that it was a tiny store pretty far outside of the city, but I was surprised for it being the only Allure show within like 100 miles that it was just me and one other bride haha.  I loved it honestly, I wouldn’t have had it any other way.  I knew I liked the designer so it was easy for me to pick one.

In regards to sizing at trunk shows, sometimes stores can request styles from the designer in certain sizes. It would be worth a call to the store to see if they can request the Brandy in a size 12 (bridal gowns always run small).

Also, Bridal stores typically receive a list of the gowns they are going to receive as well as what size they will arrive in. If they can’t request sizes, you can always ask what kind of sizes the designer is going to send.

Enjoy the Trunk Show!!!
