Cost wise, make sure you find out what the delivery charges are and how many places they will deliver to.  There can be a lot of hidden charges with some vendors!  Plus, ask if they will be at the church to pin boutonnieres/corsages, etc.  My florist will be the one to fix my train as i go down the aisle with my dad, since everyone else will be seated!

it’s helpful to bring pictures of arrangements, bouquets, etc… that you like so the florist can get a better visual idea of the look & feel you’re going for. Bringing a picture of your gown in can help as well. Ask for what flowers will be in season so you can maximize your budget. Ask if they’ve worked at your particular venues. Is deliver/set-up included? Do they offer any rentals? How many weddings will they be doing on your date? Will she be making trial centerpieces/bouquets for you? Ask to see photos of previous work.

If you are going to have the florist do flowers for your cake, make sure you coordinate with both the florist and the baker – as they will probably go on at your venue, and that may be done by either depending upon their working relationship.

Ditto daydreamer’s suggesting about taking photos with you.  You should also ask whether the florist has worked with your venue before, to see what their level of familiarity is with the layout and the set-up process, and the personnel who control that.  If they have, they may be able to advise you about what they have done at that venue in the past, and how well it has worked.

I would also ask whether they will make sample arrangements for you, and if so when, and what fee is associated with that.  And think about whether you will need an extra bouquet and bout (for photo sessions before or after the actual ceremony).
