I full on bled at 7 weeks. Bright red, clots, the whole nine yards. And now I am 34 weeks and have a healthy baby growing inside of me. Another lady in my birth group bled for every day for months because of a complication with her placenta. A lot of people spot during pregnancy and that sounds like what you are experiencing. I wouldn’t worry too much but definately see your doctor when you return!

ZoeCarroll:  Sounds totally normal- you can spot- it can be pink, brown, rust, even bright red– although they is more concerning sometimes.

ZoeCarroll:  I spotted a few times in first tri. An acquaintance of mine called it ”the end of the pipes” haha. In first tri in the beginning I was exhausted but no morning sickness.

ZoeCarroll:  This may be too personal a question, but is it happening after intercourse?  I experienced this twice after intercourse and was concerned, but a quick call to my doctor confirmed it was nothing to worry about.  You are more sensitive down there when pregnant, so lots of things can cause spotting… intercourse, bowel movement, etc.  Light pink and brown are considered normal!  And even as PP have mentioned, sometimes women even bleed steadily.  I am not a doctor, so this is not medical advice, but just my experience.

ZoeCarroll:  Congratulations! Very exciting. So, I am 21 weeks and I had no idea what to expect in the beginning, either. I just figured that I’d get morning sickness and that would be about it. Wrong. Lol. I experienced the same rust/beige colored discharge and it really worried me. However, my doc said that it’s normal and just my body’s way of adjusting to all of the hormones. I also experienced a lot of cramping which I was really worried about, and again, my doc said that since I am smaller my ligaments are just stretching to accomodate my growing uterus and baby! It’s hard to not stress and run to the bathroom and check your panties every 30 minutes, but just try to keep busy! 🙂

pinkcorsage:  I need to steal that gif – Now that I am 33 weeks pregnant, this gif describes exactly what I see when I lean back and watch my baby move around in there, lol!

OP:  With my second pregnancy I spotted throughout the entire thing.  Turns out I had a subchorionic hemorrhage (sounds worse than it was in my situation).  It was where I had a tiny little bleed underneath the placenta, where the placenta attaches to the uterine wall.  Depending on the size of the hemorrhage it could be concerning, but mine wasn’t a biggie at all.  I also wanted to mention to you that brown blood = old blood, and the pink discharge could implantation bleeding or possibly brought on by sex.  In pregnancy, your cervix fills with blood and is extra-sensitive – so sex could aggravate the cervix a little bit and cause some slight bleeding.  With all of that said:  I am not a doctor obviously, I am just going off of my own experiences.  Please update and let us know what your doctor says when you get back from your honeymoon 🙂

So, I know you’re reassured and all, but I’m glad I came across this thread, (and talked to my sister, who has had two kiddos and also experienced spotting) because I’m 5 weeks 1 day and also had spotting for the first time today…much like yours, pink, but just some on the TP and one drop in the toilet.  Kind of freaked me out!

Congratulations and here’s wishing you a healthy pregnancy, and have fun on the rest of your honeymoon!

ZoeCarroll:  I had the same kind of discharge. Usually it would appear a day or two after having sex. I did ask my OB about it and it’s perfectly normal. Nothing to worry about unless you’re cramping and bleeding consistently.

ZoeCarroll:  it’s totally normal to have some spotting and light colored discharge like that for the first weeks after finding out…. My doctor said sometimes once you get pg your body still has some “old blood” left that needs to be expelled (because you won’t be getting a period anymore) I think you only have to be concerned of you start bleeding bright red ….as of your having a full on period!

ZoeCarroll:  From what I understand, every pregnancy is different. I have not had any spotting during my pregnancy (12 weeks). However, I did and still do urinate frequently. If you think it’s too frequent or there is pain with urination, you may want to have your doctor check for a bladder infection. I had one of those early on also. The doctor said they are fairly common during pregnancy. The fatigue is very “normal” and is worse for me now. I also have headaches and continue to have morning sickness. I hope you start feel better soon.
