Would "family friend" or "friend of the family" work? That sounds like the relationship you are describing.

So my sister's boyfriend is going to be one of our ushers. I was wondering what to label him in our wedding program. Everyone else in the wedding is a family member so it's easy to say "cousin of the bride", etc. I'm just not sure what to have him listed as. "Friend of the Bride and Groom"? We both really like him, but we only know him through my sister and only hang out with him when we're with her which is rare since we don't live at home anymore so is "friend" really the right label for him?
Thanks! :)
