So, I have been wanting to make a gardening blog for the last two years, but I always get stuck at the title. It has literally been the only thing stopping me. Now, I don’t care if anybody actually reads it, I just think it would be so much fun!
I live in an apartment and have a balcony garden. I only use containers and grow mostly flowers (from seed!!) and sometimes I’ll grow some peppers or tomatoes if I have the space. I’m all organic too! I’d like to document the whole thing, from the time the seeds hit the soil . Our last apartment complex gave me the “best balcony award” and some money off of our rent because people passing by stopped to ask about it. Gardening is my hobby and my engagement ring even has a floral design! When spring comes, I have a pair of snake proof boots that I will wear around the lake to photograph wildflowers. I’m keeping track of how many different varieties I’ve seen so far. I think I would like to include some wildflowers, but mainly I want to document the garden (including its failures.)
Does anybody have a good suggestion for a blog name??
Here is a picture I took just two months ago.

and because this is a wedding website, here is my engagement ring on a baby cactus!

Don’t be too precious about it, just choose something and go for it! It really doesn’t matter what the blog is called, it’s all about the content.
Here are some basic ideas for you:
– Apartment Gardener
– Small space green thumb
– The Blooming Terrace
– Horticultrista (dang that would be hard to type into an address bar!)
Etc. Just choose something and go for it.

@cbgg: lol, I guess I was way overthinking it.

@julies1949: I never thought of taking the name from a quote!! Great idea!

@sheepandbear: I really like cbgg‘s suggestion of “the Blooming Terrace,” though I would also throw in “Balconista,” which is short and doesn’t quite reference gardening but does get the Balcony part across nicely! And btw, I would tooootally read your blog. I am dying to learn how to plant on my balcony!!

@MrsRevolutionize: 🙂 If I actually do this, I’ll post the link here!

I love “The Blooming Terrace”, or even “Blooming Balcony”
Balcony of Eden, maybe?

Imo, Let what your blog is about lead you to a simple name. I scan new blogs all the time that I just skip over because the name doesn’t indicate the subject of the blog.

@sheepandbear: Because it’s on a terrace I’d probably go with The Hanging Garden, referencing The Hanging Gardens of Babylon.

So many great ideas and pointers! I might actually give this a shot!! And I love The Hanging Garden since my husband has told me that I’m not allowed to drill anymore holes into our ceiling to hang plants. Hes afraid it will cave in! So, I actually just finished making a terra cotta pot into a hanging basket (out of twine) so I can hang it on my plant rack instead.
