My darling husband is taking me on a trip to San Fransisco and the Sonoma/Napa Valley wine country for my 30th birthday this weekend. I checked the weather and it is supposed to be around 70 as a high all 4 days we will be there. What would pack/wear for the trip? We are staying in a house on a mountain so I’m guessing it might be a little cooler, but I just dont know. Is it sweater weather? Jeans and short sleeves? Shorts?
I don’t have a lot of packing room in my suitcase so I want to pack wisely but I also don’t want to get there and not have anything to wear for the weather!

In my opinion, that’s sweater and boots weather (my favorite). I’m so jealous, I LOVE San Francisco and Sonoma! Have fun 🙂

SF can get pretty cool, so definitly bring jeans and a light jacket/sweater for the evening hours. Also comfortable shoes because you will probably be doing a lot of walking. Napa and Sonoma will be warmer – so for your hubby khaki pants or slacks and a nice light weight shirt (polo or short sleeve button down). For you a sun dress and perhaps a scarf incase it’s a little cool. Not many people wear shorts (usually only the tourists). And if you plan on going to any nice restaurants or vineyards it would probably be best to leave the shorts at home.

I always say layers for SF.
Bring a light wool cardigan, and a pashmina/scarf as well as a light jacket.
Also comfy walking shoes!

San Francisco? Pack everything. It’s the Indian Summer… so shorts, jeans, tanks/Ts, jacket, and raincoat. I lived there for a year, and the microclimates just in the city are crazy…. and you’ll be traveling all over.

Agree with pps. It’s pretty much still summer weather in the bay. Sonoma will be warm in the day & something light should be ok if it gets breezy. Keep in mind SF has colder weather year round than Sonoma. Love me some microclimates. If u plan to be by the water in SF especially take something warm. It can change from sunny to cold & windy quickly. I have never worn anything other than pants in SF if Im going to be out & about all day into the evening. I have seen so many tourists in shorts & flip flops who are forced to buy ugly SF sweatshirts & jackets bc they didn’t expect it to get cold. However cross fingers that you luck out & get perfect weather for ur bday. Enjoy!
