My 21 year old lives semi rurally in MN and they are pretty much home bound for the week. He won’t make it home for thanksgiving because of the weather and hes kind of bummed about it. I want to send him a pick-me-up box but I’m not sure what to send him. Thieves in a huge house with a bunch of kids his age. Hes a self proclaimed “nerd”, goes to all sorts of con (especially anime), and loves video games. I’d like to spend about $100 on the whole box. What would you include?

Oh no! You’re a good momma for wanting to send a pick-me-up. For a 21-year-old guy, my first thought is some of his favorite foods, and the less prep required, the better! Is there a game or a movie he’s had his eye on that might help him get through the week?

snacks, maybe homemade too!

- Wedding: September 2009 - Barr Mansion
Cookies, booze (if you don’t have a problem buying booze for your kid!), and some type of indoor game that he and his roommates could play together, maybe a board game or a mini basketball hoop or something like that.

A funny movie, a classic video game – relatively cheap (Pacman, Super Mario, Pokemon), snacks!

Gemstone: hmm, maybe I could make one of those soup jars. He loves my soup.
craigslistgirl: cookies are a must. For a skinny skinny kid, his diet is chalked full of cookies. He didn’t get that from me, darn it.
Mrs. Mouse: no problem sending him booze but I can’t, he lives on the res and they can’t have it. He does love monopoly though, he kills at that game.
Jacqui90: movies are a great idea that I totally didn’t think of. Ill check his Amazon list for ones he wants.

Gift cards for pizza.
Or, you can get a $25 restaurant certificate for $4.25
Check to see the participating restaurants where your son lives. Great way to extend his buying power.

julies1949: pizza doesn’t deliver to the res . Maybe I could sent the stuff to make one though, except the cheese but he always has cheese on hand, the kid puts it on everything. The only restaurant is the casino but ill check with them to see if they have pc’s. I hadn’t thought about that.
