The pinwheels sound cute. Maybe you could find some with more than 4 sides at the dollar store?
Some pennant flags might be cute too.
I don't know why but the first thought that sprung into my head was hay.
Maybe like this:

There's always branches too:

Those are paper flowers...not live.
Oh, I love the wheat ideas! Maybe I'll look into dried flowers/wildflowers...that would be very sweet and summery.
Have you seen the photos of moss in milk glass? It looks super cute. And you could perch little birds on the mossy hills or something like that.
Does lavender fall under your no-flowers rule?
I saw a really neat, huge arrangement done once which was tonnes of sticks with dried lavendar tied on with yarn bows all over. ...sounds kind of weird when I describe it, but it looked amazing!
We're doing the milk glass bud vases with long tapered candles. It looked really pretty in this picture I saw.
im using all types of feathers with mine. here are some pics of really cool looking ones!

I know that the feather trend has causes the prices 2 sky rocket but i found this site to be the cheapest so far (if buying in bulk) http://swalefandson.com/ostrichfeathers.html
those colorful feathers are sure to make the milkglass beautiful! im having a feather theme. even my bouquet will have feathers! check some out here http://www.etsy.com/listing/87418113/winter-wedding-blue-white-ostrich

Hi Bees! Need some suggestions... I'm in the process of making faux milk glass jars/vases; etc for my centerpieces. I love the look and just think they're neat. Plus, as far as DIYs go, it's quite fun!
My dilemma is what to put in the centerpieces once they're finished. I don't want flowers, real or fake.
We're having a tented/outdoor reception at our home in July. I'd like something I can make and assemble ahead of time as there's lots of other things we'll be doing to get the tent set up in the days before the wedding.
I'm looking for something a little different, but kinda whimsical...I've thought of maybe pinwheels (but I find the easiest ones to make are the 4 sided ones - I see swastikas when I see them!!) or maybe some fabric flowers (I love the felt ones)...
Any ideas???
Thanks!!
