So we are going to register tomorrow (Macy’s and Bed Bath and Beyond) and I feel like I am going in kind of blind. We bought our house over a year ago and we already have pretty much everything we need (Also, I already have 2 sets of China). Does anyone have advice as to what are some good things to register for? What was your favorite thing on your registry? What are some things you got that you never use? Thanks!

We’ll have lived together for nearly 3 years by the time we get married. We created a small registry for upgrades of things that should be feeling a little tired by then (pillows, sheets, towels) and things that we just haven’t gotten around the purchasing (eg. Kitchenaid mixer).
Certainly don’t register for anything you don’t need because chances are you will get it. Keep the registry down to things you can agree on and then other guests will get the hint and give you cash or gift cards.

@emileem: 3 must haves and our favorite gifts…kitchenaid mixer, ninja, and our awesome knife set!

My FI and I are in the same boat, we literally don’t NEED anything. So the only thing I asked for is a new silverware set simply because I just want nicer silverware. But I’d look for something that you don’t need but would really want. For my FI and I enjoy our wine so even though we don’t need one I put a wine rack on our registry. Another thing I have to agree with that I seen posted is a nice knive set!

– things you may want to upgrade (I’m hoping to get new, nicer pots and pans, silverware, etc.) or replace (fresh new towels, sheets, etc.)
– fun things (electronics, board games, camping gear, sporting equipment, patio furniture)

We’re sort of in the same position, so we’re registering for stuff we just need upgrades on, or fun things that would be nice to have.
For upgrades we have stuff like:
Comforter set (so we can change them out when we wash them)
For funsies we have stuff like:
Stair climber exercise thingy
Beer making kit
Personalized portrait painting thing
Picture frames to hang our wedding pictures in

i think towels for (kitchen and bath) and blankets/bed sheets are always good to have. they seem to get stained/worn out pretty quickly, at least in my house.
favorites on our registry- pasta boat (everyone laughs at this, but i love it, haha), george foreman grill, crock pot.
i think the only thing we registered for that we really haven’t used is our rice cooker. i used it tonight for the 3rd time and we’ve been married for almost a year and half.
we received a soda stream, which was not on our registry, that we really like. we’re not big soda drinkers, so i really didn’t think we’d use it, but it’s actually pretty handy.

My FI and I have not registered yet but we have been living together for 3 years (4 years by wedding) and have a lot of things. We may ask for some upgrades since some of our things are cheap (I’m still in college and FI has been working for a year). In terms of housing related items we will ask for:
a Dyson vacuum (ours sounds like death)
a vitamix? (we have a ninja but things get stuck in the corners making it less efficient)
maybe a kitchen aid mixer (but I’m really not a cook or baker)
odds and ends
Then we will most likely ask for recreational items such as:
a disk golf practice basket
bike rack attachments for FI’s roof rack (unless he can’t wait and buys them himself)
And depending on whether we plan on renting or buying a home come the following fall we will register at a home improvement store for tools we will need to renovate.
