My little brother is coming over for dinner tonight…well not little, 21 next week! But I want to make homemade mac n cheese. What’s a good entree to go with it? Anyone have an amazing mac n cheese recipe they want to share? THanks!

this sounds silly but if you go to the grocery store you can ask for cheese ends. That is the left over cheese from the deli, and while they won’t slice it anymore it melts perfectly and will give you a great blend of cheeses. I like to do macaroni and cheese with broccoli. You can add bacon and make it a day, or it goes great with pork chops.
To melt it down just put it on the stove at low, and attend to it frequently, cheese burns easily so you gotta watch it. I just add butter and milk to taste and make it a great texture. Boil Pasta, and then add it!

I love pork with Macaroni and Cheese. I made dinner recently at the Ronald McDonald house and we did home made Mac and Cheese with Pork Tenderloin and it was a hit.

Bacon is always great. Chicken is tasty as well. You could go old school and do sausage or hot dogs. I always like a multiple blend of cheeses and then I’ve seen breadcrumbs baked onto the top of the mac’ n cheese.

@MacFaniam24: I would go to a higher-end deli. I used to work at Marsh, and we sliced it all :).

I love green beans as a side to mac n cheese! Mrs. Hermit Crab recently posted a mac n cheese recipe on her personal blog:

ok now I’ve decided to make home made mac and cheese for dinner myself! although my version has chicken and bacon in it already, so it’s pretty much a complete meal. I would suggest a good salad to go with it.
