So I have heard you are supposed to wash clothes before the baby arrives. Do you wash just t-shirts that will be directly on their skin or everything? What about sheets, burp cloths, changing pad cover, and towels?

I would wash everything. All of that will be touching their skin!

I would wash all the covers (for like the changing table and other items), the blankets, the clothing, the burp cloth, the bibs, everything that will touch them.

You wash everything. I even took the pads off of the swing, bouncer, etc and washed those. We also washed the car seat. Basically everything their skin could possible touch. It’s a lot of laundry, but I promise its fun laundry. So little and cute!

@roxy821: The only caveat I would add is that unless you are reasonably certain what size your baby will be, don’t wash all of the clothes. I had about a million ultrasounds, so I knew she was going to need those Newborn clothes, but if you’ve only had the one or a couple, you may be returning Newborn size clothing in favor of 0-3.
