sorry, I don't quite understand. Why exactly do you have to wear something black? It seems to me that if your mother thinks such a thing as you said, she would not be ok with ANY black that is able to be seen!
Are you having black as well as the shoes, or instead? Personally I love the look of a black sash against an ivory dress – so glam! But just remember that it’s your wedding, and to wear what you want!
Rhinestones of black and clear colors would be awesome accessories for your hair, braclet, ect.
i would do either the fascinator or the sash, that way the color is balanced over your body, rather than focused on the bottom of your dress.
Black petticoat would be way too much black in one area coupled with the black shoes. If you have to go for black, stick for the black sash or fascinator.
My vote is for fascinator. I think it would balance out the shoes nicely.
I would rather wear black sash than black shoes.. but black fasinator makes me think of funerals
@ Joy2011 my fiance wanted me to wear black shoes to go with our black and white wedding. That was his little input that he did put in our wedding! My mom doesnt me to just wear the black shoes. She thinks I should wear something to accent the shoes.
@Showers I am def wearing black shoes. I just bought them and they are gorgeous. Cant really see them under the dress but it the thought that counts. I was thinking a black sash as well but I just wasnt sure!
@Sschaf and FutureMrsSitler that is a great observation. I never thought about that. Thanks!
@Miss_nemesys: Black sash, and a fascinator that is white with touches of black, maybe a black feather or something.
@vmblai1019: I love your idea! I love the look of a black sash with a white dress. Its just scream modern to me! And since I am wearing a birdcage veil, I think the feather fascinater will add that something extra! Thanks!

Ok so... the theme of my wedding is a modern approach to the old hollywood glamour style. The dress I picked out is by Maggie Sottero "Nova" and I am wearing black lace sandels by Steve Madden.
The fact that I am wearing black shoes for my wedding still doesnt sit well with my over traditional mother (did I mention she thinks we are planning her wedding). What else can I wear to counter the black shoes. I was thinking about dying a petticoat black so that is shows under my dress.
