I just did e-pics in a park with red and orange folliage. He wore jeans with a grey striped button down shirt and I wore an oliveish green dress (close to the color used in the wedding bee titles) with brown tights and brown boots. In some photos I had a deep purple scarf to turn down the color. We used a bright purple umbrella at one point and the bright color looked amazing against the leaves. I would encourage bright colors, expecially of the secondary hues (purple green orange) to compliment the orange leaves, grey and brown are nice but you will pop more with a splash of color, I think royal blue could look really nice as well. Have fun!
ok thanks! i was thinking that i might not want to wear bright colors because of all the color around me. but you made an interesting point. we wanted to stay pretty close to colorless in our outfits in the orchard and than have our fun bright clothes in the ones in down towns. i was thinking we could both wear darker jeans and he would wear a white button up with his sleeves rolled up with a grey under shirt and i would wear my dark jeans with a plain white t and a cute gray scarf as an accessory with my red flats. simple but classy i think. what do you think about that?
we did ours outside with bright foliage too! i wore a black top and jeans and he wore a black pinstripe button down shirt and jeans. I just got our pictures back today and they look GORGEOUS! the background colors look so great against our darker solid outfits. Plus we really stand out because of the contrast. Good luck! I'm sure the pictures will look great no matter what you wear!
just a thought... maybe you can ask your photographer's opinion. he or she would know what's best composition-wise and could work with you on the mood you want to convey in your pics. it could be a fun collaborative thing.
We did similar pictures and for the first set last October 07 I had a cream shirt and my husband had a dark green shirt on. I feel brighter colors would have looked better but, we did do them again this fall right before our wedding and we both wore black and it looked gorgeous! It really brought out the colors around us. I also think a dark purple or any dark colors would look great!

hey girls. im totally stuck. i have our engagement pictures this weekend. we are taking them in an orchard where the leaves are beautiful with yellows and oranges and reds! we are also taking pictures in January as our second session in old town sac which will be our more casual fun pictures. but for the orchard pictures...we were thinking solid color shirts. a little less casual than our other pictures. but what colors should we wear? we were thinking about having him wear a white button up with the sleves rolled up with a dark grey shirt underneath and for me...a navy bluish/greyish really cute top i just got. both with jeans. what do you guys think? i dont think it would be a good idea to wear bright colors because of the brightness in the leaves. tell me your ideas!!!
