At ours, almost everyone was in jeans. Something comfortable. And they had snacks as well as workbooks for us. I can’t remember if they had pens? So maybe bring one of those.

Ours wasn’t overnight, so I don’t really know what to say about that, but for us, we were sitting in a large church rec room while a married couple went over different topics and for each, our table (6 ppl) would discuss amongst ourselves and then volunteers from each table would share with the whole group. It was low key. Although we’d already talked about everything, I found it to be a positive experience.

Hmm, we didn’t have the mass part. But my future SIL did and they were up front in a special section where the priest mentioned them and the others and we all said a prayer for them. Maybe if you would feel not dressed up enough in jeans if you have a whole church full of people looking at you, it would be a good idea to wear something a bit nicer. In that case, I might. But it depends on your church – it sounds like yours is pretty casual.

Mine was in November, so slightly different weather, but most people were in jeans/khakis, definitely casual.  Make sure it is something comfy!  I spent the whole time wishing I had worn comfier jeans, especially because at ours we did a lot of floor sitting (when we broke into pairs), and my skinny jeans kept sliding down and showing my buttcrack :  I also really wished I had brought a sweatshirt!  Mine was an overnight, boys and girls in separate dorms, but sharing rooms with another girl, so make sure your pjs are nothing too revealing.  If you get cold at night, bring an extra blanket; you never know what the heat/AC situation is going to be.  You may also want to bring a robe for walking to the shower.  Everyone just wore their same outfit for the mass on Sunday.

We were supplied with pens and notebooks, but it probably wouldn’t hurt to bring along your own pen/pencil if you are picky…you will be doing a lot of writing!

At my precana, everyone was asked to bring a snack to share, and we had a big snack table.  I was glad we had brought stuff I liked to share, because I didn’t like any of our provided meals and just snacked the whole weekend (they served a lot of Italian stuff like ziti and lasagna, and I hate tomato sauce because I am weird).  The thing that killed me at ours was that they provided coffee, but they only had non-dairy creamer, which I just can’t use.  I was wishing so hard that I had brought a little thing of milk or some tea bags.

Good luck!  Our pre-cana was an amazing experience, hopefully yours will be too!

Comfy jeans, and maybe just throw in a casual skit to be on the safe side. I hate underdressing so it’s always better to be prepared!

As far as snacks go – I’m sure some cookies are a great way to make friends!
