I knowit’s not a wedding, but I think white is still a bad color choice. Go for skinny jeans, or a dress in any other color!

I would wear a sundress or other daytime dress, but with a sweater instead of the denim jacket.  Since it is at a hall it feels a bit fancy to me, but it’s in the afternoon so cocktail dress seems too formal.  Basically I would wear something similar to what I wear to bridal and baby showers.  If you’re on the fence about two outfits pick the slightly fancier one as it’s usually better to be overdressed than too casual.

Both outfits are too casual, IMO.

While it isn’t the “official” wedding, I have been to two receptions and everyone still dressed “nicer casual” i.e. sundresses, wedges/heels, men wore nice/dark jeans or khakis with nice shirts, etc.

I agree with AnnieAAA… I think both outfits are too casual.  I’d wear a dress but maybe nice sandals instead of heels?  And I would try to avoid an all white/ivory dress.  A sundress would be perfect!

Do you know anyone else who is going?  Maybe check with them to see what they are planning on wearing.  I’m thinking no to skinny jeans.  I don’t think you need a full out cocktail dress and heels but something dressier than jeans would probably be a good idea.  It’s always better to be more dressed up if you don’t know the exact attire (think of how awkward it would be if you were the only one in jeans!).

@simone_s:  that sounds perfect!  You can also bring flats/sandals to change into if its more casual.  Have fun!!

@simone_s:  I take work attire to mean either a casual sundress/skirt or dress pants, blouse and heels. I would not wear jeans OR a white dress.
