I don’t think it’s formal enough as the best man’s wedding.

I think it is definitely formal enough! And it’s modern and beautiful – I would totally wear that!

@AngelR88:  I like it. I would consider blinging it up with (perhaps) a statement necklace and flashy earrings, etc. I really think it does need to be dressier, though.

What is the fabric of that dress? So long as the dress isn’t a cotton or cotton sateen, I think its formal enough since it’s only black tie optional.  I think it could be formal enough if you pair it with some big, funky jewelry.  A chuncky necklace and a cocktail ring or statement earrings and a big cuff or bracelet.

Just wondering – why do people think an obviously floor length strapless evening gown isn’t dressy enough? This looks like a formal BCBG dress to me.

Dress is much much too casual for black tie.

That being said, black tie optional doesn’t exist, so wear whatever the heck you want.

I think it’s a great dress! As long as it’s not cotton (can’t tell in the pic)

@classyashley:  i believe black tie optional indicates you have the option of wearing a tuxedo (or equally formal female counterpart) and you would fit in, but you are not required by the host to wear one. i think you’re saying you don’t like the concept of black tie optional, but it does exist. it doesn’t mean you have the option of black tie and if not a hawaiian shirt is cool too.

to OP, i like it. if everyone is dressed to the nines you won’t be a sore thumb in a full length fitted gown. some will be dressed up more, some less.

@AngelR88:  adding your description from the last post, sounds very formal (and cool, love bcbg)

I don’t think that dress is formal enough for a black tie optional wedding.

ETA: I just saw that this is a buffet wedding??? For “black tie optional”?? I would wear whatever you want lol
