My wedding is this weekend! We’re getting married on Saturday and having a luncheon after the ceremony for family and close friends. We’re having an open house on Friday night for neighbors – my future mother-in-law has a LOT of friends in the neighborhood, and I didn’t want to do a reception on the wedding day, so this was the compromise. I was planning on wearing a dress and putting my fiance in a suit for that, but not our actual wedding clothes, because I’m nervous about a lot of things (dress getting dirty, tearing, sweaty/stinky before the actual wedding day since it’s going to be hot this weekend here). But mother-in-law really wants me to wear it so that all her friends and neighbors can see my dress. I guess it’s a fair argument, but I really don’t want to, so I’m looking for alternatives. I ordered this skirt (shown below) and was thinking about wearing it instead, with a top that matched? Do you think this will be close enough to a wedding dress for everyone there? I don’t know any of them, and it’s going to be a super casual meet and great type thing in a neighbor’s backyard? Also, we took a few pictures of us in our wedding clothes to have displayed at the open house, do you think that will be enough? MIL has been SOO helpful with everything with the wedding and I don’t want to disappoint her or fight her, but I also really don’t want to wear my dress…
Also, my dress is finally finished (8 days before the wedding… whew!) and we took a few pictures this weekend and I thought I’d show it off online because I’m pretty excited about it!
