The biggests ones were that I didn’t wear a garter, we didn’t do a boquet toss, and we didn’t have any dancing at our reception.

@renwoman:  We tossed the garter toss. I wore a garter that DH picked out and very much wanted to see, lol, but he did not want to do the toss. He was not into reaching up my dress in front of family and friends and in his words “having my buddy’s paw over something you just had on your upper thigh!” Lol. I didn’t care about the toss since I still threw my bouquet and I found his modesty/territorialism pretty cute 🙂

We’re not having an engagement party and we won’t be having a wedding cake!

@MrsMaverick13:  I also don’t like the idea of my groom putting his hands up my dress in front of my friends and family. I think the modesty is cute too!  I think what we are going to do is have a different garter around a football and toss it to the singles guys. That way we can still incorporate the garter toss!

We had a straight up traditional wedding… excepptttt…

I walked down the aisle alone (and rocked it!)

    No garter grope/toss (awkward!!)

We combined the father/daughter and mother/son dance portion into one.

No first look  (although this I think is a newer one)

And I didn’t have an engagement party or a bridal shower.  I didn’t care about the engagement party tbh, and I was “eh” about the bridal shower. Actually my mom was super against me having a bridal shower, she thinks they are gift-grabby.

@alexisqueenb:  cute! I like that! If DH wanted to something in its place I totally would have been onboard for a cute idea like that!

@PeachSnapple:  +1 We did do a first look but I would say that actually bucks tradition. To me traditionally is your way: no first look.

On the aisle: I bet you totally rocked it! Way to go!

And garter toss…agreed…so awkward! Haha. The more I think about DH’s position the more I wonder about it. How did that come to be? lol.

No engagement party! And no cake cutting (we’re both gluten and dairy free…we’ll probably share a banana covered in honey 🙂 Actually we will have a dessert table but since there’s not a cake, we won’t be cutting anything.

@renwoman:  I am absolutely not doing the garter toss. I have no idea how that awfulness became a tradition in the first place! My FSIL said it’s weird we aren’t doing it. I think it’s more weird to have my new husband go up my dress in front of everyone I know.

Let’s see, no garter/flower toss, no shower, doing a first look, no engagement party, staying in the same suite the night before, no church, and wedding pies instead of cake!!!

@renwoman:  I pretty much checked everything on that list! Lol. I will be walking down the aisle with my Dad, but other than that…not much else traditional stuff is going on at our ceremony and then bonfire and s’mores bar afterward.

We did not do the garter toss, bouquet toss, first look, and my husband helped me to pick my dress (at my request because I couldn’t make up my mind!) so ultimately he had seen me in my dress before the wedding.
