What TV shows are you dying to see invented?

I just want more wholesome shows on TV. Perhaps I am getting old, but when I was a kid/teen, TV was much better than the garbage that’s on TV today. It’s like the same old sex, gore, police drama crapola.

I want a resurgance of family shows! lol

I’m a software developer, and it grates my bones to see all the technical inacurrasies on tv shows. So mine might not be a premise for a show, but for goodness sake, just be more ‘life-like’ with techinical stuff.

On the same kind of note, I have just discovered a show called Silicon Valley which is about a start-up company in Silicon valley – the type of show I’ve been waiting for soooo long

Okay, so I’ve long held out hope for this:

My ultimate dream would be for a network (any network will do, really, but I could see HBO, BBC, or even Netflix doing this) to create a show based on Harry Potter. This way, they could really delve into the plot of the books more and touch on things left out of the movies. Instead of eight movies, we could have seven+ seasons to work with! We could have flashbacks to the Marauders time, flashbacks to Voldemort before power and during his time before he killed Harry’s parents, flashbacks to Dumbledore, etc. We could really get to know these characters and maybe more information and backstory would be released. I could totally see JK Rowling working on the show so it felt really authentic.

Even if the show wanted to take place BEFORE Harry was even born–I would be down with that.

Honestly if this happened I would have a straight up fangirl heart attack and die. No joke.

ChicoryCreek: LOVE your ideas!!! I would definitely watch both those shows!

FI were joking that we’d love to see a show that compiled all the worst, funny-cause-they’re-so-bad local tv commercials. or news bloopers.

I’d love to see more shows for young people with protagonists with disabilities. In particular, I think a teen sitcom or drama centering around a youth with Asperger’s syndrome would be great to see. Typically, if a character has Asperger’s on TV (whether explicitly stated or implied), they are part of an ensemble cast on a sitcom…while that can be well-done, those kind of depictions rub me the wrong way. Maybe it’s just my personal experience with the disorder, but I think a program like that would be surprisingly relatable to a teen audience. Everyone feels like a fish out of water at some point during puberty, so I could see a more extreme case than usual going over well with middle schoolers, in particular.

My motto is “if you want something badly enough, then do it yourself”, which reminds me that I should probably write a novel like that sometime. XD
