Its any cake. The name is just referinv to the fact that the sides aren’t covered 🙂 if you wanted to do a caramel drizzle you coukd easily do an apple spiced cake with whatever frosting you choose, whipped cream, cream cheese, salted caramel, with the drizzled caramel!

@chouette:  you could also do a play on a caramel macchiato. So many choices for you.

@chouette:  there’s way around that. Simple syrups, the jam idea, using recipes with a lot of liquid in it the list goes on from there. Doing a buttermilk coffee cake or a buttermilk apple cider cake are both viable options. Your cake artist will know just what to do!

I think a lot of them are pound cake or something less crumbly than normal cake. That top one with the fruit is gorgeous! Or the one on the log.

I would avoid sponge for a high tiered cake as it can often be too delicate and not dense enough to bear the weight (you can put dowel supports in of course but I wouldn’t like to do it just in case). I think red velvet, choc, vanilla cakes, mud would all be fine for what you want to do.

These are nice, I like that the frosting to cake ratio is just right. And I’m a sucker for fruit-centric desserts!

Bahaha… sleepy mind slip-up: googling naked cake with filters off. Some of these bakers have a really unusual interpretation of human anatomy.

I love these cakes. I didn’t know they we’re called naked cakes. I keep telling my man we’re having a fruits cake with no iceing lol I like naked cakes better. I believe you can make the cake out of anything you would like. I would like to pick  different favors for the layers. what I love about these cakes is that it won’t be to sweet since it won’t have frosting and my soon to be mother in law would be able to make it for us.

We had a naked cake at our wedding. My best friend’s mom made it for us and used regular cake batter. To keep it moist, she wrapped it in cling wrap.
