Whenever the weather allows (which usually means anytime the temperature is between 15 and 90 degrees) and there's not a lot of snow/ice on the ground, I run outdoors. But in the worst of winter and summer, I go to the gym and do various cardio machines and weight training. I've never been a yoga person; it just doesn't feel like a workout to me.
At least 2 cardio sessions a week. If I can make step class or Group Power, I do those too. Ok, well, I skip the elliptical if I make step class. I want to work up to 2 Group Powers a week, but my schedule sucks right now.
At minimum I do 30 minutes cardio and then at least three weight training routine per session. Sometimes I do up to 45 min cardio and five routines when I feel motivated.
Cardio 4 days a week, pilates or yoga one day a week. Strength training arms with squats 4 days a week. No fun!! But I do love the pilates and yoga!
I run outdoors 3-4 times a week (lucky enough to live in Florida and able to exercise outside this time of year - I've never been a gym person). I started running over a year ago, first with the Couch to 5K program and then I did a training program for a 10K. I know I need to do more strength training, so lately I've been doing arm exercises with an 8-lb weight, squats, and crunches, also about 3 times a week. I used to do yoga but haven't gone in awhile...
Combination of WiiFit, snowboarding and 30 day shred at the moment. I am also hoping to get up the willpower to do the 100 pushup and 200 situp challenges, but I'm very sore at the moment from other activities. I know I need to do more cardio, but it's really difficult with my knee problems. 1 step at a time I guess!
Right now i do 30 min cardio in the AM and 60 minutes of cardio in the evening. Need to get into some strength training but our condo gym is sorely lacking... i try to do situps, pushups, and squats when i can
Monday - 30mins cardio in the am, 60min hot yoga class at night -FYI - Hot Yoga is in a studio where it's 90 degrees - it is an amazing class, it's tranformed my body and I don't even do weights anymore.
Tues - 60min Turbokick (choreographed kickboxing class that's fun and a great calorie burner)
Wed - same as Monday (or sleep in and just do hot yoga)
Thurs - same as Tues
Fri - same as Mon & Wed
Sat - go on a light run/walk
Sun - rest or do a light walk
I don't do any exercise...boo!! I just don't like it.
But I am going to start doing toning exercises, and I did get a bike for christmas. only been able to ride a couple times cuz it's been so cold. but I am going to start doing yoga and hoepfully will progress from there
During the day: 45 min on the elliptical, 3-4x/week
In the evening, at home: Pilates and strength training, 20 min 3-4x/week
Weekends are for tennis or hiking, nothing super strenuous.
Interspersed irregularly, I do classes at the gym (kickboxing, spinning, core, dance) or at home, Wii fit and various yoga/ballet DVDs.
Pole dancing at Sheila Kelley's S Factor! It is the best workout ever. It's a challenge every week but so much fun you don't even notice how hard you're working out. Plus it has led to me making some wonderful friendships and changing how I feel about my body. It's my favorite 2 hours of the week and has completely changed my life. I'm stronger than my husband now!
I work out at home I alternate days 3 days of cardio and 3 days of strength
Cardio: 1/2 hr treadmill, 1/2hr bike
Strength: 1/2 hr dancing/high intensity strength DVD, 1/2 hr strength/yoga DVD
@snmcdowell
I just heard about a place here that is offering pole dancing!! I think I may go tomorrow night!
McRae - Have fun! There are some knock-off places now that offer it too (like Flirty Girl Fitness and Crunch), but they're not nearly as good as S Factor. If you have the opportunity to take classes at S Factor you should definitely go there first!
I do weight training with a personal trainer three times a week, and 45 to 60 minutes of high intensity cardio 5-7 times a week. What can I say, I'm a workoutaholic!
Usually for cardio I do 30 minutes of 6 mph endurance run, then I sprint at 10 mph for 30 more minutes. Let me tell you, you're tired, but you feel so accomplished after that!
Obviously, the big thing is to be consistent and find what you like, so kudos to everyone on this board!
i don't go as often as many of the people on the board (but I'm impressed some of y'all can motivate yourselves to the gym for an hour and a half 5 or 6 days a week! kudos). i go 3 days a week for 45 minutes of strength training and 15 minutes of intervals. my fh is really into strength training, so it's like having a trainer for free! a typical strength day will include 5x5 squats, dead lifts, pull downs and presses. i love feeling strong and showing up all the boys flexing for the mirror.
I've gotten really g ood at doing 40 minutes of cardio 5 times a week ... but I want to change that and do more like 30 min cardio and add 20 min of strength, not exactly sure how to make that change. I looked into a personal trainer at my gym but they are super expensive. I really just want someone to teach me how to do some things and then just do them. Orrr I could stop doing wedding research and do some workout research online and I'm sure I could find just as good information :)
snmcdowell: I wish we had S Factor - I'm in South Carolina, so it's a pretty big deal ANYWHERE is offering it!! haha! I really do think I'm going tomorrow though, I'll post on how it goes!!
Hooray for my overly energetic dog! I run every morning before work as the 4-legged baby WILL chew everything if she doesn't get enough exercise each day. We're training for an August marathon- I only stay motivated if I have specific goals- and the puppy keeps me honest!
So, I wasn't able to go to the pole dancing class because my sister's dog got out, and we had to do a massive search for her. We thankfully did end up finding her, but it'll probably be two weeks before I can try the class again!
I generally do 2x a week with my personal trainer (all weights and strength training) then I try for at least one, ideally 2, hot yoga classes per week with at least one, preferrably 2, days of cardio/treadmill/elliptical.
Taking care of your body can be hard work! Especially if you (like me) LOVE unhealthy food!
I *heart* Eliptical
I am a huge fan. My FI prefers interactive classes, but I really love the monotany of the machine. My gym has their TV's set on captions so I can read and space out. It allows me to think without interuption. And I'm able to keep my heart rate up consistently. I get frustrated in the classes because I'm not very coordinated and I hate to fall behind everyone else.
FI and I have a home gym, so we work out together 6-7 days per week. I usually do 30 minutes on the bike in the mornings before work, then another 30 and strength training at night. We enjoy going to dinner all the time, so I HAVE to work out that often to stay in shape. Ugh.
He also has a 400 pound tire in the backyard that he hits with a sledge hammer (eye sore, I know, but I do ilke the results!). He is getting certified to be a personal trainer soon so I can hopefully work out at a gym with him, yay! I do love the home gym, but I tend to not push myself as hard as I should.
i work out every day since I'm trying really hard to lose weight- 20 to 30 lbs (depending on how i look when i get to that point!)
right now i am mixing cardio with weight lifting. i'll go and warm up, run for 3 minutes, lift for 5, stair climb for 5, lift for another 5, etc. i always try to keep my heart rate up, even when i am lifiting!
i also try to throw in bootcamp (even though I lag behind... but I work at the gym so it's free and the fellow "campers" are always so encouraging!), yoga, and pilates but whenever i have time... my schedule always changes so it's hard to commit to that!
my last thing that i do (beside nutrition) is trying to constantly add in a little 5 minute work out. i'll go up and down my stairs a couple of times (i try to give myself breaks from the computer... im SOO addicted to weddingbee and illustrator!!), skipping 2 stairs so it's a pretty good lunge. i teach a preschool class, so we run to the water fountain, have stretching time in between subjects, and "dance" (more like skipping combined with tap dancing lol) a couple of times a week for about 10 minutes a day. OH and i park far away from my destination and always take the stairs! :) i'm in a fitness for life class through the community college and it really stresses continuously doing physical activities at a pretty consistent pace!
i'm hoping to be toned by my FutureSisterIL's wedding this May. My second goal is to loose all that weight by my wedding in March of next year. I hope I get there!!!
Power walking and pilaties seem to do best for my figure :)
I LOVE LOVE LOVE rebounding--my old gym in NYC had it and it was so much fun. You jump on a trampoline for like 45 minutes and do a cardio routine--
Turbo Jam is fun too for a video if you just want to be done in 45 :)

Working out is on my mind this morning because I'm committing myself to going to the gym tonight! (after eating a lot of bad stuff at miss martini's bachelorette party last night)
I do kickboxing once a week, and cardio+weight training two times a week. I'd love to get in one more cardio session (a class or just the treadmill) and one yoga session.
What type of workouts do you usually do?
