We’re having a semi-DW, and we’re having a celebration when we get home at FI’s church fellowship hall. It comes with tables and chairs, use of the kitchen sink, fridge, countertops and coffee tureens. We can get the space for 3.5 hours (for free, although we’ll probably donate the $75 fee for non-members anyway).
A few things to keep in mind:
1) No alcohol allowed
2) FI and many of his friends/guests are ministers, so Saturday evening is not good
3) Sunday morning is out since it is a church
Since we would not be having alcohol, I’m leaning towards making this event a daytime and short affair.
What should we do? Brunch, afternoon tea, late afternoon dessert reception? Early afternoon heavy apps and cake? Help us decide!

I thought about this for a while….if I were a guest what would I like…
Sat. brunch or Sunday early afternoon ( right after church ish) finger sand which / cake .
Here is my thinking, sat brunch is relaxing, doesn’t occupy the whole day, and leaves lots of time still left to do other things needed in the day.
sun after church….really nice feeling of fellowship, already dressed, relaxed time.
but really, if I were your guest I would just be happy to celebrate with you and would like any time!

A really awesome Saturday brunch…that would be amazing. Have you ever seen Gossip Girl? It’s on Netflix. If you can watch the first episode right now, check out…I don’t know, starting at like 25:16. They have an AMAZING brunch. I know it’s like…super fancy and they’re wicked rich, but it’s inspirational and the food looks awesome. Here’s a screen shot:

Thanks everyone for your comments and thoughtfulness! You made some great ponts. I love breakfast food, and I like that a brunch will leave most of the day open for other things for our guests and us.
