I think a birdcage veil would be very appropriate with that dress and for the vintage feeling you want.
You might also try one of those thin veils that connects under the hair and would just drape down the middle of your back. Would be very dramatic.
I'm going with a vintage style as well. I'm going to be making a birdcage veil with an antiqued brooch with feathers. I definitely think birdcage is the way to go to get a vintage look. There are so many variations with the birdcage veil style too so some great ones out there for updo and some great ones for down dos too!
Cathedral veils are actually vintage and were worn in the 20's (although with a bridal cap, which I don't recommend for everyone). I think a simple cathedral veil for your ceremony would be beautiful and then you could wear something else for the reception.
