Pink and Blue iPod shuffles- one for me and one for the groom!
My FSIL gave me a handmade recipe book with all the important and memorable recipes from my fiance's side of the family. She knows I love to cook, so she contacted relatives for recipes. I opened it at our shower and almost cried!

I think that is one of the best gifts I have heard of. That is such a great welcome to the family gift. We all know sometimes family recipes are guarded as just that "family" recipes. It's so great that she took the time to put all that together.
We have a old Betty Crocker recipe box that used to belong to the FI's grandmother and it's chockfulled of recipes she tore out of books, written on index cards, etc. I love it.
I recieved a gift from red envelope that was a glass container filled with double stuffed Oreos!!! This was the funniest, most thoughtful gift ever from a friend of my fiance's.

Since most people make registries and most guests use them, it's not a surprise to open our wedding presents. Occasionally though you get something awesome and totally unexpected. What is your favorite gift you've received that you had no idea was coming?
My favorite unexpected wedding gift is nothing too important, but just adorable. They were porcelain goose-shaped measuring cups. Our whole wedding was bird-themed, so these were a major hit. You should have seen my husband's face when he opened them, he looked so happy. We have them on display in our kitchen.
