Good morning Ladies!!!
I was just thinking about how my street size is a size 11 currently, and I couldn't fit in a wedding dress under size 16! What a confidence booster :(
What was your difference? I want to see your dresses!!! I don't have pictures in mine yet
I had no difference between my street size and my wedding dress size (size 12).
PS - Did you know that size 11 is a juniors size? So you're comparing a junior's street size to a women's dress size ....
I'm a size 18ish in real life and I was able to fit into a size 16 and should have ordered that size but they ordered it in an 18.
I am a street size 4/6 depending on the dress.
Was right on the cusp of a size 10 wedding dress. We ordered the 12 just in case. Had to take it in at the bust & waist.
Here's the finished product.
I'm normally a size 4 or 6 in real life, and I had to order my dress in a size 10. The size difference is really annoying, but it fits almost perfectly.

@Theresa90405: That dress looks so freaking fun and amazing. Just a random p.s. :)
I'm a 2 in real life, and I think my dress was a 6, or maybe even an 8 when we ordered it. It fits like a glove too!
It really varies, depending on the dress manufacturer. I think some are changing their sizing to be less discouragingly far off from our street sizes. When trying on dresses, I found David's Bridal and Alfred Angelo to be pretty true-to-size. My gown is a Venus, and it's a size 6 although I usually wear a petite 4 or a regular 2.
I am a street size 12/14 and ordered a 16 (one size smaller than they recommended)

I'm a real life size 16 and the size that would fit me currently is a 20 (i ordered an 18 bc i'm in the process of losing).
Honestly it didn't bother me at all bc I was totally aware going in that I'd have to order up a few sizes. I decided prior that I wanted a dress that looked awesome and I wasn't even going to look at the number.
I’m a street size 2 or 4, and my dress is a size 10. I don’t have any good pictures of it because it’s being altered (neckline and hem only, the size is a perfect fit), but it’s a Pronovias. Here’s another Pronovias I tried on (my second choice dress), also a size 10, which also fit perfectly.
@theresa I love your dress it's soo cute and frilly!
@misschirpie your is gorgeous too I love all the beading is it a Maggie?
I got mine from David's, and it's actually very true to size! I ordered one size up from what I usually wear, and it's a bit big, so I would have been fine with ordering my street size!
When I ordered my dress I was a size 12 and the dress had to be ordered in a size 18. I always have to order larger sizes so they'll fit me in the chest area! Now that I've lost some weight I know it will have to be taken in some. I didn't stress about the number because the dress is so beautiful and it's just a number! Plus I'd been prepared that lots of times wedding dresses are much smaller than street sizes.
I'm a 4/6 depending on the cut of the dress and I ordered an 8 (Pronovias)
I'm a street size 6-8 and I've been zipping up size 14's. I have big boobs and one SA told me I might need a 16. My mom was sighing like I was such a cow. hahaha.
i'm a sz 6 normally and bought a sz 8 dress (allure). i probably could have bought a 6 since i've lost about 5 lbs in a month and intend to lose about 8 more, but i didn't want to risk it. luckily, no matter what alterations i need it won't cost more than $250 (and i know it will be a lot haha).
I am a street size 8/10 and my dress is a 12 and it basically fits perfectly, no alterations needed!
I am a 0-2 street size dress and they ordered a 4. My booty needed some extra space. Too bad my chest doesnt! hahahaha
Street size 8, dress size 6. I love Demetrious for doing this for my self esteem! No pictures yet, fitting in a few days.
I'm a street size 10, and the dress I ordered is a 10 (i'm nervous, since I have heard so much about wedding dress numbers being bigger, but was told that ordering a 12 would be ridiculous...I hope it fits!!!)
I'm a street size 4 or 6, and ordered a 6 based on my bust/waist/hip measurement. However, when it came it, although it fit in those places, it was tight in the ribcage! Although they were able to let it out to fit, I wish I had ordered an 8.
My dress was a Watters, and I ordered a size 2, but I'm a street size 0. The size two had to be taken in a bit though, so I think I was somewhere between Watters' size 0 and size 2.
I'm a street size 2/4 and my dress size was a 6. I dont think I'll need alterations
I'm a 0-2 in street clothes and they ordered me a 4. It needs to be taken in a little but not too bad. here's a pic from my first fitting yesterday!
Street size 6/8, dress size is a 12. I told them to not even show me the label. lol.
I'm a street size 10 and my dress is a 12. My measurements were all EXACTLY the same (right down to the half inch) as those on the designer's size chart for the size 12! My dress has since come in and fits like a glove, no alterations required!

Street size 8, dress size 16...unreal!!!!! You would think they would want to boost our self esteem for our big day!
I am a street 10 and my Jasmine wedding dress is an 18. I greatly enjoyed ceremoniously ripping out the tag at my fitting this weekend. It needs taken in, so who knows what size it really is. It's Mermaid-size.
I think it totally depends on the designer and whether they fit using street sizes or couture sizes. It also depends where you normally shop for street clothes - some places have had major size inflation problems over the last few years. (If you wear a lot of vintage, you are probably already really aware of the size inflation difference.) Bottom line, however, is that it does NOT matter if your wedding dress size is bigger than your street size - your dress is going to fit YOU perfectly at the end of the day - and whatever number the tag says is totally irrelevant if you have a gorgeous dress that fits your body like a glove.
I am street size 0-2, and ordered my dress (Mori Lee) in a size 8 - my measurements were exactly the measurements for the 8. It fit pretty darn perfectly and only needed a couple of alteration adjustments.
I'm the odd one out.
I'm a size 12 in clothes, and ordered a 10 for my Maggie Sottero dress (and even debated getting an 8).
I think the discrepancy is that I have humongous thighs which make a big difference when wearing jeans, but not so much with dresses.
I tried on the 10 sample, and it was huge everywhere except for the hips, where there was just the right amont of room, which is why I went with the 10. It'll definitely need to be taken in at the chest (it was loose) and a lot at the waist (my waist measurement was between a 6 and an 8 on their size chart).
Whoever says that being an "hour-glass figure" is ideal never had to shop for clothes...
I'm a petite size 0/2, my dress is Romona Keveza and they were deciding between a 4 or 6 and suggested ordering up to be safe. It fits perfectly, just needed to be hemmed!
I'm a size 2-4, and ordered a 6 for my Jim Hjelm. And it is still a little tight in the hip area such that I need to lose some weight!
