Just as it says ladies!
What was your first concrete “check”? I’m going to guess many people it’s going to be the date, but with Fiance and I it took awhile to settle. Our first check was the decision to have no children at the wedding, I’m just not fond.
So share yours!

Place! We found the location and then used that to decide the date.

- Wedding: January 2013 - Harbourfront Grand Hall
I knew I was going to be picky about the venue so we picked that, knowing what month we wanted to get married in and then went based on their availability.

Our venue picked the date for us since it was the only Saturday left in the Fall.
We actually planned the honeymoon first hah. I was SO overwhelmed with wedding planning at first that we planned a kickass honeymoon before we did anything wedding related.

Wedding Party! I wanted to make sure we had the right friends stand up there with us.

- Wedding: August 2013 - Brookfield Zoo
The date! I wanted it to be on our anniversary… so I think it must have been 2 years or more ago I started telling Fiance “we’re going to get married on August 17 2013 because then it’ll fall on a Saturday… make sure you propose a year and a half in advance so we can book the venue!!” haha… looking back, probably sounded so crazy…

- Wedding: March 2012 - Pelican Grand Beach Resort
The first thing we did was decide that we would be havign a toes-in-sand wedding back home in Ft. Lauderdale. Until that was established, we couldn’t exactly look for venues, not could I choose a dress without knowing what kind fo wedding we were having. Personally, I would not choose a photographer that was not familiar with my venue, so we had to wait on that as well. We chose out bridal party pretty soon, but we talked about our vision for the wedding first since having 2 attendants vs 20 really changes things.
As soon as we decided where we would get married, we had to think about when since we can’t just uproot ourselves 5 hours away any week. We decided that I would only take one week off from teaching, so one of the two weeks (either the week before the wedding or the honeymoon week after it) needed to be during Spring Break. Then, which of the two depended on the availability of the venue we settled on.

Venue. I had a lot of things in my head before we booked that though, but it was the first OFFICIAL thing. Photographer came shortly after.

Oh… Duh I missed wedding date as an option. That obviously came first I guess. Can’t book a venue with knowing when it is!

I bought my dress the day before we got engaged (“officially” with the ring).
I knew the ring had been ordered and was coming in the next day so he’d give it to me that night. My mom was in town visiting and REALLY wanted to shop with me (and, it turns out, she wanted to buy the dress, which I didn’t know!!).

Location, and then looked at available dates.

We bought our wedding bands first. This was the most important thing to us because we’ll wear them the rest of our lives, so I didn’t want to feel limited in what we could choose. After we bought the bands, we figured out our budget based on what we had left.

I found my dress at a Sample Sale 1.5 months before I got engaged…and I bought it.
The next big item was I booked my venue (a week before I got engaged). The wedding coordinator, photographer and florist were booked within 48 hours of the ring on my finger.
