What was the first thing you said when he proposed...
My first words were....my ring... my ring.... oh god my ring....lol.
even though I somewhat expected it... I was like REALLY!?.. REALLY!? OMG... - cue ugly cry... :)
I laughed? Haha. Because he looked just so darn cute! And then he got upset so I yelled YES!
When he got down on one knee I started shaking my head saying "No, no, no, what are you doing?"
When he actually asked Will you marry me I said "Of course"
"Oh god, what is happening?"
"really?"
"This isn't some sick joke right?"
"YES!" - Ugly cry
I said "Oh My God!" The rest leading up to his getting on one knee is a blur.
"Are you drunk?" Then followed up with "How many Jim Beams have you had?" Yup, that was my ubber romanitic proposal. Aren't you all jealous? Hahahaha
"Are you asking?"
(DH's proposal was us sitting on the couch watching TV and him saying "So... do you think we should get married sometime?")
My Fi gave me roses, which he does quite often, so I didn't think anything of it. I took out the little card and it said WILL YOU... Cranky pants me said "what, what do you want me to do now?" to which he said "Marry me" (didn't I feel like a B*%#h).
Lol I was totally blindsided by his proposal, I had actually had a discussion the week before with one of my friends about how I was just going to accept that we would never be married and just 'be together forever'. So when it happened I was totally shell shocked:
He gave me the box and told me to open it and asked "So will you? (big grin)"
My response was pure confusion: "Wait, what is this? It's so pretty! What?....NO WAY!!! Heck yes!!!"
DH thought it was HILLARIOUS to take me super romantic places, say nice things than bend down to tie his shoe, or pick stuff up from the ground...
So, on the actual day, it was "Shut up... get up, you're getting your pants dirty", then I saw that there was an actual ring, and he actually asked if I would marry him, and I was just like.. for real?? Yes!
"Really?!" in this high-pitched chipmunk voice about 10 times, he had to say "So are you gonna say yes?" There might have been some "Oh my God" "seriously" and "are you for real" thrown in there too but I can't really remember haha.
I thought I'd cry but I didn't, I'm hoping the same will be true at the wedding because when I start thinking about it tears begin welling up in my eyes right now!
After not being able to talk from crying I finally kept saying "Are you serious?!?!?!"
Yes...ugly cry....hug....i love you so much....hug....I love you so much....hug....it was like I was stuck in a loop....couldn't stop/ do anything else....
@mkathleenwhite: Haha don't feel bad. My guy was wanting to walk around in Chicago at 2am on New Years, I was cold and wanted to go home. Plus we had to pack and move hotels in the morning so I was whining about just going home because I was sleepy and cold. When he begged me to just go on a little walk and told me he'd do all the packing I replied "Fine, but just know that I'm doing this because I love you." It happened about 3 minutes later, haha!
I asked him if this was practice or for real this time. I kept making him practice putting the ring on my finger cuz he kept messing it up!
mine was in the bottom of my stocking christmas morning after opening a bunch of ugle vending machine rings..I opened the box, saw the ring,, shut the box and said "What did you do?!" lol then cue the ugly crying and nodded my head yes bc thats all i could muster up with tears everywhere lol

Hahaha I LOVE this thread!! It's so funny!! I am loving all the "cue ugly cry"...hahaha Geez I'm praying I don't have to ugly cry. But I can imagine saying "really, really, REALLY!?" Love it.
Erm, I shouted LIAR! seriously. I did. Because my ring wasn't supposed to come for another two days at least...so he lied...
yeah I suck as a fiancee hahaha
We had gone to the Pepsico gardens and were walking around. He had placed the ring on a flower and took a quick picture then called me over. He was like hey look at this. I picked up the ring and said "Whoa someone left their ring here. Why would they"....then I turned to him and he was asking if I would marry him. Insert the happy shriek I'm sure scared a few tourists and let the tears begin!
He handed me the ring without actually saying anything so I said "Are you going to ask me?"
After a few minutes of just hugging him while he was still on bended knee, I finally looked at him said the following:
me: I'm not going to cry... Are you going to cry? I really want you to cry.
him: so is that a yes?
me: oh yeah - YES!
I said... " of course, if you have a ring..."
My FI proposed at dinner.... which I had planned, during a romantic weekend... I had planned. I did not see it coming. He randomly asked will you marry me? I thought nothing of it because he had said it 100 times before and would fake it. His plan was to cry wolf, so when he really wanted to truly propose.. I wouldn't see it coming.
May first response was... of course, if you have a ring... in a non-excited tone. LIke I said, he had done this a million times before. He said " alright then.. sifted through his pockets and actually pulled out a ring this time.
Then I just bawled my eyes out and kept saying " are you serious?" over and over!
I'll never forget it!
All I remember is he said "Your're my girl"... then I started crying and the next thing I remember was saying "OMG IT FITS" lol
I wish I remembered more... but I was shocked.. surprised.. happy... started crying.. who knows what else was going on.
He still teases me because I said "Wow this is such a beautiful box!"
To clarify, I didn't know what was in it yet.

My FI asked me in a flipping snowstorm when there was already over a foot of snow on the ground. He took my to a frozen waterfall in a neighboring town and we were hugging and I kissed him and said "you're the best boyfriend ever" and he looks at me all seriously and says "You can't call me your boyfriend anymore" and I yell "why the hell not?!!" He then gets down on his knew, in over a foot of snow and says "Because I'm hoping to be your Fiance in a few seconds" I then look atr him, look at the rign and say "Oh shit! You're serious?!" Then I get down in the snow with him and cry like a baby and I don't remember too much after that, just lots of kissing,
I still get teased to this day, but I laughed when he proposed. He was down on one knee on a beautiful beach in Mexico and asked if I would marry him, and I freaking LAUGHED. In my defense, it's my default nervous reaction to start laughing, I could't help it! I recovered a second later and said "OF COURSE!" but yeah...I laughed.
"Yes...PUT IT ON ALREADY!!" He was of the belief that I was supposed to put the ring on my own finger, I disagreed.
@pinkfrog: I'm glad I'm not the only one with this reaction.
I said "Are you kidding?" and he said "I'm only kidding if you say no.."
mine was "stop! stop it, god damnit!" as i was kicking him under the table.
i could have sworn he was just messing with me. (he's done it before... most notably at a very fancy restaurant on our anniversary)
after i saw a box and a ring all i could say was "seriously?!?!?! seriously?!?!?! SERIOUSLY?!?!" (in the best way possible)
