Our venue forbade pretty much everything including bubbles. Make sure you double check before you get your heart set on something
@SapphireSun: they didn't even allow bubbles???? wow! we're doing bubbles because that's pretty much the only thing allowed
@SapphireSun: Seriously?!
Ohhh that's unfortunate to hear. Was the ceremony nice though?
Our venue will let us throw stuff, IF we pre-pay a $50 vacuuming fee. I'll probably pay it, it seems fair enough that if we want to make a mess then we should pay for it to be cleaned up.
@knight.keira: We are getting married at Poet's Lane, Sherbrooke.
@Roux: Wow very nice! The chapel looks like one of the receptions linked to a Diamond Creek reception.
We did bird seed. I put a scoop of bird seed in little tulle circles and tied a ribbon to close it. Everyone just opened them and threw the bird seed when when were leaving. But our ceremony was outdoors in a park-ish area.
I love the chapel! It's so pretty and has a bit of a churchy feel, but without being associated with any denomination, which is good for us because we aren't religious. The gardens are gorgeous too, but every major party we have ever thrown has had some sort of extreme weather event on the day (flash flooding, golf ball sized hail, rolling blackouts etc.) so we aren't counting on nice weather!

If you got the guests to use something else other than rice or rose petals what was it?
If you used rose petals did you use something else other than cones?
