This is going to depend a lot on region...where are you located?

I think the amount people spend on flowers is ridiculous. A local fresh flower market and homemade arrangements are the best way to go! Florists are a ripoff. I plan on spending under $500

$2k, but it will vary greatly depending on the number of arrangements you need/type of flowers you want.

$1400. but we found an amazing lady who does it out of her home so we didnt have the mark up that some of the store would have. Maybe look at craigslist in your area....might save you some money

wow...some of these are SO BIG! mine is 1300. I am doing 2 centerpieces... half the tables will have some sort of flower arrangement and half will have some sort of arrangment that includes some larger candles with smaller ones as well...i am hoping that will save some money. The majority of the flower budget is going to surround our buffet.

The 1300 does not include my bouquet, corsages, or boots...that is all for the groom to pay for :-)

$3000 for the ceremony and reception - I wanted lots of english type flowers though - that is for 2 arrangements for the ceremony, the aisle runner and petals, 7 centerpieces, 2 floral displays at the sideboard, 4 palms, my bouquet, moh bouquet, groom, best man and clutch bouquets for moms

Im located in NJ. I met with one florist that did a friends wedding that included quite a bit: no extra fees for delivery or set up and included candles for the tables to go around our centerpeices and petals to scatter round the cocktail hour tables. I thought that was pretty cool :o) Do florists typically include other things???

We live in an expensive metro area and I wanted lush arrangements-peonies, ranunculus, garden roses, hydrangeas, and parrot tulips.

We're getting a large arch filled with flowers, 2 large aisle arrangements, miniature arrangements for each chair/bench in the aisle, rose petal carpet, my bouquet, 3 BM bouquets, about 10 corsages, flowers for a 6 tier cake, 10 bouts, a manzita tree on the placecard table, and 10-15 table arrangements.

I really didn't have a budget walking in the door. I just sat down with some florists and went over what I liked and didn't like and got quotes. It's AMAZING how much they vary from person to person.

We are only having real flowers for people (IE bouts, bouquets, corsages). The ceremony and reception decor are real touch flowers made by aunt who is a retired florist so that helped a lot.

We ended up paying $1350 for the following:

    • 1 extra large bridal bouquet made of green cymbidium orchids, white peonies, purple lisianthus, green hydragnea, dark purple calla lillies and a few gardenia.
    • 2 maid of honor bouquets made of green cymbidium orchids & dark purple cala lillies
    • 6 bridesmaids bouquets made of green cymbidum orchids and green tea roses
    • 1 groom bout that is a green cymbidum orchid
    • 8 groomsmens bouts made of purple cala lillies
    • 2 wrist corsages made of white orchids for moms
    • 3 fathers corsages made of white orchid for dads
    • 1 reader corsage made or white orchid
    • 1 dark purple pommander made of purple carnations for flower girl

I didn't think it was too bad. I went with someone who was in the mid price range but I got everythign from $900 up to $2400!

@unixfairy: I just realized I forgot the callas. Flowers were the hardest part for me-I went with a black and ivory color scheme so that I could choose whatever color flowers I wanted.

I love everything about flowers. They're so beautiful and there are so many to choose from. It'a amazing how just a few blooms can become modern, rustic, or vintage by simply arranging them differently.

Under $300 for us.  However, our flowers were just:

    1. Two bridal bouquets.
    2. One MOH bouquet.
    3. One bout.
    4. 25 cups of freeze-dried rose petals.

All the rest of our ceremony and reception decor was nonfloral.

Our budget is 1500 and that's including delivery and set up. We found an awesome florist who's actually giving us a great price for everything we're getting. She's literally going to make me a wall of flowers and succulents for our ceremony and then we're going to transport that wall to the reception to use as a backdrop for the sweetheart table.

We paid $161 for our personal flowers (and a few sprigs of hydrangea for the reception) and another $10 for long stemmed roses for my flowergirl to hand out.  The $161 included:

    • My bouquet
    • 2 BM bouquet (I only had 2 attendants and I kept the bouquets the same)
    • 6 corsages
    • 7 bouts

@Jsquared: What part of NJ are you in? My daughter's wedding last year was at the Sheraton in Eatontown, and the florist we used was fabulous. I can send you the link if you're interested, but I'm not sure how close you'd be to them. We're in South Jersey.

We spent between 8-9k but we got a lot for that price. We rented 150 chiavari chairs through our florist; chuppah; 5 bouquets; 8 bouts; ceremony decor  behind the chuppah; hanging lanterns for the garden; escort card table display; 17 centerpieces; and of course putting up with my constant phone calls and second guessing :)

holy moly, I had no idea that some flower packages could cost that much.  I know it can vary a lot but type of flower, location and how many but as usual I have sticker shock.  We are hoping to spend under $500.  Guess we will see how that goes.

heh.  Our floral budget is $200 :)  But our centerpieces are non-floral, I'm not carrying a bouquet, and I'm undecided on bridesmaids bouquets, so its not really a comparable price for some of the larger numbers out there.

I'm looking to DIY or use alternative (clutches instead of bridesmaid flowers) but will still be wanting to use some of what the florist has.  I have about $1k for flowers in my budget.

The quote I just got was $1,300 from our DOC who also does floral design out of her house so like others mentioned she doesn't have the overhead of other florists. The price includes: bridal bouquet, 3 bridesmaids bouquests, 3 small Mom's bouquets, 10 bouts, cake flowers, 16-18 centerpieces, cake table, buffet greenery, etc.

I plan on spending around 800, that will include BM bouquet, my bouquet, all of the bout's and some flowers for the centerpieces. We will be putting the flowers together ourselves, so that def saves money.

Ours came to just over $1500, and the wedding will be in NC.  That includes my bouquet, 2 bridesmaids, 7 bouts, 2 ceremony/reception pieces, 10 table centerpieces, individual flowers for the moms and grandmas.  I found a flower farm where she not only does the arrangements, but also grows the flowers.

I live in Fairfield County, CT (pricey metro NY). My dream florist was going to be about $3500 for all I needed.  I wanted beautiful flowers, but there were so many other priorities that flowers dropped to the bottom of the list.

So, I had slightly less awesome flowers for $2,000 and got: my bouquet, 6 BM bouquets, 4 corsages, 12 bouts, 15 low centerpieces, and an arbor for the ceremony.  Got the price down by paying in full, in cash, and not being picky about the types of flowers.  It wasn't exactly the vision I wanted, but it still looked lovely.

My original budget was $1k.....but when I actually went to meet with florists, $1k would not get me anything close to what I had envisioned.  I ended up paying $2,500 which was a GREAT deal.  I eneded up buying my own hanging crystals as well as doing "highs" and "lows" to keep the cost down =)

I am spending more than I anticpated on flowers.  If you pay in cash sometimes they give you a discount.  This was one of my most important items for the wedding and my biggest splurge for sure.

Also, a good saving tactic is to suggest that you want half centerpieces high and half low, instead of all high ones.

@Glittery84:I don't think high/low will matter for us :/ The venue has brass candelabras that we will be using as a base (minus the candels) so I'm saving on the tall vase/mount, pricing...any other tips??? pleeeeaase feel free to pass my way :oD

$1800, which includes bridal and four bridesmaid bouquets, all the stuff for the guys, mothers, and grandparents, two large urns of flowers, 6 very dramatic high centerpieces, 6 mediums, 6 lows, petals, and small arrangements for the cocktail tables.  I'm pleased! :)

I think my budget will be $1500. The only thing I care about is my bridal bouquet and that's it. Any other thing can work around that. However, I am not a big fan of roses. My florist told me that my choices would have to be a bit more expensive. Argghhh!!

My venue is outside and inside. We need nothing for the ceremony (outside) because we are surrounded by flowers and greenery in their natural state. Plus they hang baskets of flowers everywhere. They also decorate inside with greenery. I don't really care about flowers (plus I spent most of my budget on everything else) so my current budget says I can spend $400 on flowers. That's a scary price... I'm hoping we can get bouquets and boutineres for that price. We're going to have to skimp on something to make it happen!
