Plain old vanilla! And then vanilla, chocolate, and marble sheet cake. I’m not big on other flavors or fruity cakes.

We had 3 types: Vanilla sponge with lemon raspberry filling, lemon poppy seed with custard (I think!), and marble with chocolate fudge (husband’s request). We did cake centerpieces and our guests were happy to take any left over cake home!

I don’t know the customs in Tasmania, but I’d say get whatever flavors make you happy!

Tier 1 (largest, bottom tier): red velvet with cream cheese filling
Tier 2: vanilla with white chocolate ganache filling
Tier 3: chocolate with coconut pecan caramel filling (like german choc. cake icing)
Tier 4: same as bottom tier, will be removed for our anniversary cake

All covered in a thin layer of buttercream icing, then wrapped in fondant

We’re going with vanilla pound cake and vanilla buttercream icing. Sounds boring, tastes amazing.

We are having a champagne flavored cake with buttercream frosting, so simple yet so satisfying.  Not sure on the groom’s cake yet – FI’s favorite is carrot cake, so it most likely be that.

We had cupcakes so we could have more flavors:

Top Hat- vanilla cake, chocolate frosting

Plain Jane- vanilla cake, vanilla frosting

Black & White- chocolate cake, vanilla frosting

Double Trouble- chocolate cake, chocolate frosting

Red Velvet with cream cheese frosting

Carrot Cake with cream cheese frosting

Lucy in the Sky- vanilla cake with M&Ms with chocolate buttercream frosting

Chocolate cake with Mint frosting

German chocolate cake with cocounut frosting

We also had a small cutting cake that was vanilla cake with buttercream frosting.  They were a HUGE hit!  Everyone loved being able to pick their own flavor, and the different colors in the display were really pretty.

A white chocolate butter cake filled with vanilla bean crème fraiche pastry cream and white chocolate mousse. It’s white on white, and even though there were other more tempting sounding flavors, this one was far and away the winner. Yum.
