I’m sure everyone has/had at least one of these. The thing you think will be a cinch to find, that ends up turning into the scavenger hunt from hell and makes you loathe inanimate objects in a way you never thought possible.
For us, it was the ties. FI and I finally found solid brown neckties for his groomsmen yesterday. May I point out, our wedding is this weekend. I have absolutely no idea why these were so difficult to procure, but apparently brown is not “in”, so until yesterday we were pretty much resigned to having to rent them from a formalwear company.
Thank you notes were no picnic either. We wanted something elegant, not to solemn-looking but also not too casual. Apparently not. Every single set we liked was below the minimum size requirements to go through the mail. Until I wandered into Chapters and found the most perfect design that was large enough to mail, embossed, in our colours, totally eco-friendly (bonus!) and, best of all, on clearance for $1 a package. Score!
Okay, your turn. What’s your nightmare detail story and resolution (if applicable)?

For us it was freakin argyle socks that were the right colors. Dh wanted green and black argyle socks with yellow accents. They were impossible to find. We finally found gray and green ones from Express that DH really liked, but that was only after searching website after website!

We had issues with DH’s bow tie. He wanted to look very Cary Grant. He is a larger guy and wanted to get a larger bow tie. We looked for months to try to find him one. What was even more aggrivating was it seemed like in every movie we watched, there was a man with a big bow tie on in the movie. I spent hours googling, with no luck. DH finally just decided he would suck it up and wear the one that came with the tux, fearing it would look crazy. Then 3 days before the wedding, my mom calls and says that she think she found one. She found it for $6.95. Couldn’t believe it. It was perfect.

Purple argyle socks…wow. That was a search. FINALLY found the last 4 pair at Nordstrom Rack.
The main kicker was a mustard colored cardigan. I won’t get into specifics except to say the very last one in a size small that Macy’s carries in the United States was 3 blocks from my house. And when I got there the lady said she couldn’t find it. Cue hysterics and my poor loving FI aimlessly searching for yellow sweaters holding them up asking, “would this work?”, while I screamed, “IT’S THE ONLY ONE!”. Lady found it after double checking in back. I apologized. But really. If she had looked hard enough the first time everything would have been fine. My FI is amazing.

Hahaha all accessory-related so far! I think the clothing industry is conspiring against us.
