Did you have an engagement party?  Bridal shower?  Bachelorette?  Rehearsal dinner?  Day-after brunch?

Which of these was your favorite wedding related party?

Any regrets about the parties you did or did not have?

i had a shower, a bachelorette, and a rehearsal dinner.  an engagement party would have been fun to have, but I don't think that is really something you host yourself and no one offered to host that for me.  I don't think they are very common here in the midwest.

Not very many, actually... I'm kind of shy about being the center of attention.  I had a bachelorette and a shower.  We also had a great rehearsal dinner hosted by my parents.

My parents threw us an engagement party so my husband's parents could meet our friends and family (since they live far away).

Then I had one shower and one bachelorette party.

We did have a welcome dinner/party the night before the wedding and an after party post-reception if those count.

So far we've had an engagement party and I know we'll likely be having a shower, a bachelorette/bachelor party (separate), a welcome dinner and a morning-after brunch! People always say things like "I just had my first bridal shower" and I'm intrigued by this...you get more than one? I doubt I will.

My MOH just threw us a SURPRISE engagement party last night!  It was SO sweet of her.  We had her baby shower from 1-3 pm and then she invited us back over for dinner, and when we showed up at 7, everyone was there again for us!  It was SO great!

i had a surprise bachelorette trip to vermont and my parents threw us an engagement party at the park that we got engaged at so far. we still have my shower and the rehearsal lunch (even though there won't be an actual rehearsal). i don't think there will be a day after brunch because it's a sunday wedding and people will be working. so far both of the parties were awesome, there are no favorites, and no regrets.

we had an engagement party, we threw it ourselves it was really low-key, just friends and family at a nice pub. we asked everyone to not bring gifts but to pay for there own food instead. Fi's dad paid for the alcohol. and we bought a big yummy cake.

No shower as it isn't as popular in Australia.

Definately a hen's night and buck show.

We will have a rehersal dinner and prob will do something the day after.

Too many, and we haven't even started yet.

    1. Tonight: Meet the Families dinner.
    2. In two days: Groom's mother and her close female family/friends come over to have tea with my mother and her close female family/friends.
    3. In 5 days: Groom's father and his close male family/friends come over to formally ask for my hand from my dad and his close family/friends.
    4. In 11 days: Engagement party, trying to keep a lid on it but the list of "close family/friends" is now over 80. I get to wear my ring after this!
    5. Bachelor/bachelorette parties?
    6. A week before the wedding: Ketib Iktab ceremony, where we are actually legally and religiously married. Close family only.
    7. March 26th, 2010: The wedding, big white dress, 400+ people.
    8. May 22nd 2010: The California reception, same big white dress, about 100 people.
    9. May 27th 2010: The Tennessee reception, causal white dress, BBQ style, about 60 people.
    10. May 31st, 2010: FINALLY! HONEY-FRICKIN-MOON AND IT'S ALL OVER!!

Doubt they do bridal showers here, so am kinda bummed that I'll miss out on throwing a mimosa-sipping party with my girlfriends, but they're all in the States.

If it were up to us, we'd be married next month. Aside from the USA receptions, this is all our parents.

We didn't have an engagement party, but my best friend took us out for dinner as an engagement present, and we later went out for dinner somewhere really nice with one of my bridesmaids and two groomsmen to introduce them - I really enjoyed these occasions.

I'll do something for my bachelorette but we don't have showers here so it'll be just the wedding after that.

I'll likely have a shower hosted by either my BMs or FI's aunts (one of them, I think, offered?) then a low-key spa night bachelorette party that same night since I and all the bridesmaids will have had to fly in for the shower and won't all be in the same city again till the wedding.  FI is likely not having a bachelor party (which makes me sad) since his brother never organized it this year, and FI starts studying for the CFA level 3 (last level - FINALLY!!!!) exam in January which he'll take 3 wks before we get married.  I offered to take him to an Australian strip club on our honeymoon, but alas he said no;)

Aside from that, we'll do a rehearsal dinner BBQ on Friday, the wedding on Saturday then a small day-after brunch Sunday for really just the wedding party and immediate family since we're all staying on the farm property the night of the wedding.
