I’m good at planning events so I planned everything myself with no help. Does that count? LOL

I also do makeup but I wont be doing mine for the big day bc I want to relax.

@gelaine22:  LOL same here. I’m pretty crafty and a decent graphic designer, too, so I designed all of our wedding signage/paper goods myself and made basically…everything for the wedding.

I make beaded jewelry, so I’m making necklaces and earrings for my bridal party.  My cursive handwriting is also very neat, so I’m teaching myself calligraphy in order to address my invitations.

@vorpalette:  I wish I could do graphic design! I am so upset i paid someone on Etsy $70 just for a template for our invites. Now I’m struggling to figure out a simple gobo. Ugh

I’m really good with Excel so I made a lot (a LOT) of spreadsheets.

I’m designing our invites & programs, making my jewelry and gifts for several others who will be helping, and our decorations. All my years as a children’s minister are definitely paying off!

I temped at a florist for 2 months and even though I suck, I’ll probably be attempting at least some floral arrangements 🙂 I’ve thought of taking a floral arranging class at a community college to try to improve.

And I wish I had pretty handwriting! I think my boyfriend has prettier handwriting than I do haha.

@peasantsong:  +1 I feel a little guilty – my friends got me a beautiful wedding planning binder, but I prefer everything to be electronic!

– I used to work in hospitality, so I’m using that experience to help figure out how many bar/wait staff I need, how I can speed up the serving of food/drinks, etc.

– I love building things – I’ll be constructing our bridal arch (fairly simple), cake stand (also fairly simple) and possibly the centrepieces (potentially more complicated)

– I love to bake, so I’m going to make the cupcakes and other buffet desserts in advance and freeze them

– I am good at making friends with talented people! I’ll be asking for help/advice from my cousin (a graphic designer), my aunt (DIY/craft extraordinare) and a couple of friends (florist and interior decorator)

My guest list and budget are linked together in ONE Excel file. (I make changes to guest list.. BAM. My budget updates automatically, with gratuity and taxes included.) I could geek out and use Excel solver to determine how many meat options guests would need to have… ($26 per person vs $29 per person), but I won’t worry about that until I start getting RSVPs.

FI and I are still somewhat connected to friends who do local gigs; his father plays an instrument — so do my father and my uncles. I play the piano; I used to teach piano (that’s how I met FI) — so I might play a few songs at the reception.

@vorpalette:  What is a good software to create our own wedding invitation templates? I looked at the available (not-quite-inspiring) templates on Microsoft Publisher and Microsoft Word… and thought, well.. at least it would be easy & convenient to perform a mail merge, so I wouldn’t have to handwrite names & addresses.

I’m not a florist, an event planner, or graphic designer but I still found ways to do a ton of stuff.

Planned a DW, Flowers, invitations, my make-up
