From birdcage veils to colored shoes, matching socks, fascinators, cupcakes, damask, candy buffets, photobooths.... they may be trends to us, but to the vast majority of wedding guests, they're probably the coolest thing they've ever seen at a wedding. ![]()
so what trends are you incorporating into your wedding?
I am so excited about our wannabe photobooth. And I totally stole the idea from Mrs. Avocado--her pictures made me laugh out loud, and I'm hoping that my guests will cheese it up like hers did!
And...I heart my hot pink shoes :-)
Cupcakes, birdcage veil, perhaps a photobooth.
I'm also going to wear a short dress, which seems to be popping up here and there lately on the interwebz.
I'm considering a birdcage veil, and definitely want to have a pair of fun, colored shoes for the reception.
I'm interested to hear what other trends people are considering, because I don't know too many that are out there! (I guess I'm not trendy?)
I'm doing the make shift photobooth and unmatched bridemaids dress. I'm trying to rock the re-wearable bridesmaids dresses!
I'm doing the birdcage veil (and fascinator) and photobooth. I really wanted the colored shoes, but my mother put her foot down on that one.
I'm planning to wear colored shoes. Hopefully I can find a fabulous pair in eggplant so they'll match my bridesmaids' dresses.
I'm also hanging the round paper lanterns that I seem to see popping up everywhere!
colored shoes and a candy buffet (i think that's a recent trend...it definitely is new to my family and friends!)
I am being pretty traditional, except the groom and groomsmen will wear navy jackets and khakis as opposed to a tux. I think it is pretty trendy for beach weddings right now.
My sister is having a more modern, trendy wedding. They are having a friend officiate. Her bridesmaids ar epretty much all wearing different styles in the same color. They are having soup shots during the cocktail hour. They are naming tables after places important to them as a couple. They have otherreally uniwue ideas too, these are the more trendy elements.
We're doing a photobooth and buying some fun props from the dollar store to go with the photobooth (big glasses, feather boas, etc)
We're thinking of having cupcakes too
I would love to do a photobooth, dyed crinoline, blue shoes, candy (well, sweets) buffet, non-floral centerpieces, and alternative cake (though I want a croquembouche rather than cupcakes). Is that trend overload? :D
We are pretty traditional, but the biggest trendy item at our wedding is the cookie/candy buffet.
Birdcage veil, possibly candy buffet, and I would love to do a photobooth.
I'm hoping to find a great pair of colored shoes to wear! We're also doing non-traditional bridesmaid dresses (though they do match). The cake won't be the main attraction for dessert at the reception, either. We're offering a few options, including a cheescake and topping bar. Other than that, I think we're pretty traditional...
i guess we're trend-ing it up: birdcage veil, colored shoes (a la dorthy), candy bar, desserts (instead of cake), AND photobooth . . . is that bad?
Like almost everyone else, i want to find a great pair of colored shoes. Also, the bridesmaids will be wearing different style dresses in the same color. I would like to include a candy buffet if possible.
@paigee - i love your icon! i have a westie too!
Colored shoes, matching sock, black bridesmaid dresses, floral monogram, damask.
Colored shoes (though my mother and MOH may veto that idea) and a signature cocktail (is that a trend??)
birdcage veil, dyed crinoline OR colored shoes, maybe a signature cocktail
Is it sad that I don't even know what some of these trends are? I guess I'm going to have to get googling. We're planning on incorporating peacocks into our theme, and from everything I've read on here, that seems to be becoming a trend as well (I thought I was being creative and unique). And I'm definitely looking for some glamourous colored shoes, but finding them in magazines is easier than finding them in stores.
JanieLeigh, I don't think that sounds bad at all! It's tough to remember because we're so immersed in the wedding world, but most people only go to one or two weddings a year. What seems like trend overload to us will just come off as fun and different to guests who don't spend all their time on wedding blogs (though I don't know why they wouldn't!).
@paigee & lindsy: Yay westies! Are either of you having yours at/in your wedding? I think they look so handsome in little bow-tie collars. We're having a church wedding, though, so I think my little guy will just be in the bridal suite with us while we're getting ready. Fortuantely white westie hair won't show on a white gown! :)
Weren't pets as wedding party members a huge trend for a while?
we're doing a photobooth! i'm so excited! we went to a bridal showcase this past weekend and tried one out and it was so much fun!
I have read that Spanish tapas are in top 10 Wedding Trends. Since I do have Latin background I will definitely go for it! I will give my guests a taste of a wide variety of food by offering them Spanish tapas. Particularly since I'm looking to have a sophisticated evening wedding and don't quite have room to have a sit-down dinner.
def def def colored shoes!!! seems to be a running theme - but so much fun and so HOT!!! i'm a shoe loverrrr =) also photobooth again so much fun and I love pictures! besides that I'm keeping it very traditional =)
So far the only trends I'm considering are cupcakes and colored shoes.
@ lindsy & driftslikesmoke Thanks, My dad taught her to stand like that by bribing her with chicken. I'm not having her in the wedding, but I would love to. Ours is at a church too, so that kinda prevents it from even being an option.
Photo booth! We did cupcakes at our engagement party, though we will have a real cake at our wedding. I will also be rocking some paper lanterns somewhere in there. Hopefully we'll also have our signature drinks. Maybe we're not being very trendy. =)
blush pink wedding gown and colored shoes, hopefully a candy buffet and we had to nix a photobooth for a fab wedding coordinator - but I don't regret it for a minute! Also, signature cocktails, white dance floor, pink uplighting on columns and trees (I think lighting has recently become pretty big and trendy in weddings) and modified paper-source paper flowers used as escort "cards".
ms. tofu and driftslikesmoke, I love your avatars! ;)
Gah! I'm so trendy (and I never thought I'd say that)!
Gold dress, red Fluevogs, cupcakes (and a small cake), paper lanterns, signature drink, swing dancing, i-pod wedding, live plant centerpieces and our dog as flower dog.
I don't think pre-wedding yoga, or horse and carriage are wedding trends (yet), so I'll take credit for those two;)
Short dress, colored shoes, i-pod music, no wedding cake but wedding cream puffs, email rsvp and invitation posters. We'd love to do a photobook but I don't think there will be time at the reception.
@JanieLeigh: does that mean you are having ruby slippers like Dorothy?! If so, I MUST know what they look like and where you got them. That would be sooooo cute, even if your colors aren't red. I love the Wizard of Oz.
Ooh, DoctorGirl! Awesome with the pre-wedding yoga! I run a yoga studio, so my bridal party and I will start the morning of the wedding with a hot class to get our blood flowing!
Maybe we're trendsetters!
Trends that we've succombed to:
* Monogram
* Damask pattern featured throughout decor
* OOT bags for hotel guests
* Signature Drink
* "Photo Book" that guests sign, in place of traditional guest book
* Faux Photo Booth! (super stoked about this one!)
We are using the bird image that's part of my avatar throughout the wedding. I have purple shoes! My bridesmaids all have their style dress from the Jim Hjelm line. I'm planning on walking to the church, if the weather holds up.
