We always make sure the foods we feed are animals are okay for them to have and always limit how much they eat if we need to. That being said, my cat loves to lick my bowl after I have oatmeal and also loves to munch on any leaves leftover from salads. My dog on the other hand LOVES hard boiled eggs. He goes crazy when he sees me making them and will actually try to eat them out of your hand or even your mouth if you're eating one. What weird things do your animals eat?
My 16 year old dachshund is OBSESSED with hot tea. If I go over to my parents house and mom and I have a cup of tea, she goes berzerk if she doesn't get to lick then cup when we're done. She's a weirdo.
My cat goes crazy over peanut butter. She can seriously smell it from across the house. I have to stand up while I eat it because if I sit down I am in her reach and she WILL maul me.
Everything.
Goblyn, the younger one doesn't even sniff, if its in your hand and your offering it he takes and chews. He eats lettuce, califlower, cardboard, almost ate a ghost pepper.
Duchess, the older one, much more timid.
@bobbypinpearls: Our dog will normally eat everything without chewing but if it's a vegetable he usually spits it out. Our cat is a lot more picky about what he eats and actually tends more toward vegetables and fish than anything else.
The cat also used to like pudding. The very first night we got him, he walked up to my husband and flipped the bowl out of his hand, it landed on our cat's head and he went nuts about it. Now he acts like we're crazy when we try to offer him a little bit.
Our dog freaks out and begs horribly when we eat strawberries. It's pretty funny actually because as soon as he smells them he goes nuts. He also loves peanut butter, but I don't like how fatty it is for him. We found these awesome dog cookies that are all natural and peanut butter flavored so now those are his favourite and they look like human cookies....tricky tricky :)
Our cat is weird and sometimes I think he thinks he's a dog. He tries to sneak the dog's bone and likes to mooch for sandwhich meat and bacon. He looooooves bacon haha!
I second the peanut butter - if I get the jar out to make a sandwich, he starts licking his mouth. LOL! He also loves goldfish crackers - these are his treats after he goes to the bathroom outside.
One of our cats loooooooves potato chips and popcorn. We don't give it to him but he will literally ninja kitty his way onto your lap and try to sneak some when your not looking. Any open bags have to be put away in a cupboard because he has been known to steal the bag.
My older cat Peter will eat just about any kind of people food. Like any kind. Meat of course, but his other favourites are bread (preferably a sweet bread), baked potatoes (just discovered this one), vanilla icing, Starbucks lemon poppyseed loaf, he used to like shredded lettuce but he hasn't touched it the last few times I've offered it to him, left over ice cream, cereal, almond milk... Seriously, you can't leave a plate unattended in our house, he's an absolute monster! It's actually fairly amusing. I try to keep the majority of people food away from him, but he's sneaky!!!
@beekiss: Yup! I came back to add this.Bugs. And leaves. You'd think we starve them.
My cat looooves strawberries and boiled eggs. He also loves to eat cheese and cheese flavored chips/crackers.
My dog will eat anything that even half-way seems edible. She's a little strange. :)
My dog LOVES uncooked tofu. She goes nute for it! Also, she absolutely freaks out for frozen french fries- still frozen. She also loves all her veggies-- carrots, broccoli, cucumber, spinach, artichokes. She despises brown rice, though.
The ferrets on the other hand, love mushrooms and grapes and dried fruit. They don't gey any of it much, but when they do... those little fuzzies go nuts! (The smaller one actually hides her treats and eats them later.)
my cats are so weird. they don't eat anything but meow mix - like we're talking no other brands, no soft food, no tuna... nothing. HOWEVER, one of them loves popsicles and will lick them whenever he gets the chance. and the other one loves parmesean cheese. if we eat pizza and put it on top, he'll lick your plate or your slice of pizza when you turn around.
I was going to say popsicle sticks but then realized everyone was talking about actualy food items! Both of my dogs love ice. They will be in the basement and if someone makes a drink with ice upstairs they will run up and sit and stare at you and the freezer. The other week they actually looked so pathetic that I gave them the last 2 cubes and had a warm bourbon and coke.
Cheese! The dog could be sound asleep on the couch but as soon as she hears the cheese drawer open in the fridge, she's standing right under you.
She also loves milk. She can't wait to get at the glass after I drink it.
Besides that, she's a begger in general. She waits and stares at the dishes after we're done eating, waiting until she gets them to "pre-wash".
Our one cat eats EVERYTHING. His favourite is veggies... I swear, he can smell tomatoes or peppers from a mile away. He also loves bread, pancakes, anything that comes out of a bag, cereal, strawberries and other fruit, mustard, pickles, tea bags... you name it. Not that we feed him many of these things intentionally, but if we're not careful and turn our backs while cooking, he steals food and runs away with it! He also eats his regular food, so that's not a problem, and we've checked with the vet... the vet thinks he was a neglected outdoor cat before we got him, and had to eat whatever he could find. So funny.
Our other cat is a food snob and will only eat one kind... However, for some reason, he goes ape-shit over olives. Weeeird.
Our cat who passed away in December used to love prosciutto. Like could hear the deli bag opening across the house and be in your face trying to eat it out of your mouth loved it. He had good taste, lol!!
My cat likes canned mushrooms and canned corn- but more like the juice from the canned corn. One of my dogs will eat anything. There hasn't been a vegetable that he doesn't like. One time he spit out a pickle but then once he got used to the bitterness of it- he went back and ate it! You honestly would think he is starving although he hasn't went a day or even 12 hours without food! We even have to put a tennis ball in his food dish because he eats so fast.
@bakerella: OMG we have the same cat, my Dax is exactly like your Peter.
He is a machine!
@KristenGotMarried: it makes me so happy to see you have a 16 year old dauchshund. everyone told me they live for like 10 years and i started getting paranoid about my 8 year old...
he like to eat tamale wrappers out of the trash
My mom's dog loves raspberries.....so much so that he jumps up and bites them off the bushes in the yard!
@futuremrskline: so cute!!
What DOESN'T my pup eat?! He loves vegetables, except leafy greens, and that's probably just because he can't chew them easily. Cheese of course, and peanut butter, and he's been known to take down a HUGE pork shoulder bone in 1 hour.
But the funniest thing is corn on the cob--he learned how to shuck and eat corn on the cob just like a human. Puts his paw over the one end and pulls the husk down with his teeth, then nibbles off the kernels!!
He would eat anything given the chance. Such a terrible begger. But he has a bad tums, so he can't eat anything human. However....he loves eating acorns, and all sorts of random plant crap on the ground. It's bizarre. Oh...and bark. He loves eating bark and woodchips in the dog park. I spend most of my time running after him yelling "drop it!" because I don't want it returning later on when he throws it up....
When he's sick or needs pills though, cheese is our go to. Loves cheese.
My last cat (Rhapsodie) loved french fries, she wouldn't beg for or eat any other human food but if she saw you had french fries she would try to take one from you.
My cat Lola loves mangoes, watermelon, lettuce, oranges... she acts RABID when she smells any of the fruits, and often tries to steal them from me as I'm eating them!!!
My cat Azrael loves Icy Hot. Yes, the muscle rub. If I put that on, she will attack me, licking, and then biting me when I try to get away!
Our pug Brutus eats gum wrappers and anything else that smells even faintly of food if we leave it in rage. Our other pug, Otis, eats hair.
They're a little crazy. They do eat their food, though. Brutus would climb walls to get scrambled egg or banana.
One of my cats loves pretzles, chocolate pizzele, and mashed potatoes. I call him my carb kitty. He also loves to lick plastic.
My cat Baylee goes beserk for Angel Food Cake. Like will eat through the plastic dome of the store bought kind.
Well this is him after jumping in our dish cupboard that was over the sink where it sat cooling after I decided to make one from scratch.

Lol my one cat will eat anything. He was a "trash cat" for the first year or so of his life so he loves it all. His favorite snack is goldfish crackers. He also likes to lick the cheese powder off of cheese puffs/cheetos. One time I came home and he had ripped into a bag of Milano cookies and eaten half of them!!! He also likes to chew on leaves that we track in from the outside. My dog will eat anything. Sometimes we see him trying to eat paper lol.
One of my dogs is a super picky eater...the one that got rescued from living in an alley and starving to death tho? She eats anything. Shirts, ethernet cables, toys, sriracha sauce, apple cores. She's a lil weird. Her all time favorite tho? String cheese! You open a pack of string cheese in this house and that dog knows about it.
My German Shepherd =Everything. Even the flowers outside
My horse likes a splash of Sprite the soda in her feed bucket and beer :)
@panterapeach: Ya Peter's intense. Glory is currently trying to eat my quiche.
@Oneeleven: That is HILARIOUS!
dirt, rocks, weeds, plastic bottles, watermelon, my favorite couch... :/
We have one cat that will eat pretty much anything (except lemon, she turns up her nose at anything that has lemon in it). She has a huge underbite, and has trouble eating, so I don't have trouble giving her little bites of whatever I'm eating. She loves yogurt, and chicken prepared pretty much any way (except with lemon). She's a big fan of broccoli.
One time a couple years ago we got Chinese take out, and DH had gotten General Tso's, and had left the container out and open on the coffee table while he went to get a fork, and when he came back, Penny had jumped up and fished out a piece of broccoli--passing over the chicken.
One of the other cats loves beer. He'll lick the heck out of the top of the beer bottle or can (after it's finished). Don't worry, I'm not getting my cat drunk, he usually only gets a couple of drops.
