- Wedding: May 2014
Our wedding is just over a week ago, and to be honest, as amazing as the day was, what I remember, and still makes me laugh, is what went wrong. We actually already love telling these stories, and I always loved reading other people’s.
The first one happened pretty early in the day. I think both mothers were going kind of nuts that day. My DH played golf with his father in the morning, which was always the plan. After the game and they got cleaned up, FI was supose to leave our car at our reception space, and his dad was going to pick him up and take him to the church. I went and hid in the bridal area while my friend was doing my make up, and posted another friend at the door to tell me when DH got there. About 15 minutes in, I start hearing “DH isn’t here,” “Who was supose to pick up DH?” His dad forgot him at the reception space, and better yet, didn’t have his phone charged for DH to call him! We had 45 minutes pirior to pictures, so no big deal, but it was still a bit of a strenuous 15 minutes while every one else located him. I was a bit surprised to find our car at the church, but that got taken care of.
The second one was almost not getting married at our own wedding! My uncle did our ceremony, and apparently forgot that he was doing a wedding and not just a regular mass, as he nodded for our reader to come up, and almost skipped our vows! He was not in my line of sight, so it probably looked funny with me trying to waive our reader off, while he was nodding at her to come up. About half way through her two step of trying to listen to both the bride and the priest, he finally remembered that we were having a wedding, and called the wedding party up.
To be honest, I remember the rest of the day being very amazing, but nothing distinct stands out to me other than these two “mistakes.” I think they really did become the best moments of our day.
