- Wedding: August 2012
I’m MARRIED! August 25, 2012. :)))
I thought I’d jump back on here and share something for those bees that are stressed (just like I was) about things going wrong on their wedding day.
I planned everything sooooo specifically. I communicated with everyone. I sent out schedules and charts and made sure I checked and double checked everything. I did everything I could possibly do to make sure it would go the way I planned.
But still….here’s what went wrong.
My bouquet – did not look the way I ordered it. Same flowers but not arranged the way I wanted.
My cake was decorated wrong. Totally wrong from how I ordered it.
Our favours, after sitting in my MIL’s house for 8 months, suddenly didn’t fit – the little chocolates into the box were too big so they (my MIL and FIL) had to make a last minute change. (they told me later)
I was sick on the way from the salon to the venue. Literallly…we had to pull the car over so I could dry heave into the ditch! My nerves got right into my throat. I had some Pepto and ginger gravol, and then some ginger ale, and by the time we got to the ceremony and I hit the aisle I was totally fine and raring to go.
I was late. I was late to our ceremony because no one told me what time it was!!! I was just having champagne and trying to calm my nerves, and finally one of my bridesmaids told me what time it was and we jumped into action.
They didn’t dim the lights when we did our first dance like they were supposed to. So my fiance and I were talking during our first dance about that.
We barely got to eat our antipasto bar. We had set it up so that the bridal party could come in get first crack at it before the receiving line, but we got so tight on time by that point we were racing to grab something – I was literally shoving tomatoes and mozzerella in my mouth like cookies.
No one got our programs. I have no idea what happened, but they all came back to us in a stack. I know they had been put out for guests though. Worst about that is I had ordered them twice to fix a spelling error.
My dress got absolutely destroyed. Spills down it from drinks, stepped on many times, ripped, the bottom was totally black by the end of the night.
Here’s the thing……..I didn’t care!!!!!!!!!
There was nothing I could do in the moment. Nothing at all. Nothing except go with it.
The day still went on…..regardless of all that stuff…..and no one was the wiser and no one else cared either!
I didn’t focus on any of that in the moment. I had the best day of my life!!
My dress…oh man. lol. I have to admit, I kind of love that it’s so messy now. It’s the sign of a great night!
Don’t stress ladies…it’ll all be ok! However it goes. 🙂
