It’s pretty obvious at this point that everyone has different symptoms – whether for their periods or the beginning of a pregnancy.
What about yours? How did they compare to your usual AF symptoms – and is that what tipped you off?

sore boobs was the most obvious for me. I never get that with AF, but I noticed it starting a day or two before I expected AF.

I usually get really sore breasts right before AF, but not with my BFP. I also didn’t have any cramping before like I usually do…. but really it was the extreme tiredness, vivid dreams, and hot flashes that kept me suspicious I was pregnant.

I had this bizarre feeling fright from o, until a few weeks after my BFP, it was like someone was constantly stabbing or pinching my left ovary- it was bothersome and nagging. Sore boobs, like massively sore. Also a few days before BFP I could smell everything. Very dull PMS like cramps- not like the sever ones that I usually get.

sore boobs, hungry, exhausted, lots of CM, and a strange sinus infection (I never get them)…but I heard it’s not uncommon with the increase of mucus production, and pretty crampy since implantation. So lots of AF symptoms, just way too early.

Cool – about 3 quarters of the responses so far are suggesting that most women experienced symptoms that were at least as bad as AF usually is, no symptoms at all, or less severe symptoms.
It’s got me thinking because I’m more than a week out from ovulation, due for AF within 3 – 5 days according to FF (I have never started when they claim – usually I start a day or two earlier). I also usually get very severe symptoms a week beforehand – really sore boobs, major cramps, backaches, achy hips, etc.
I’m slightly sore, but that’s about it. This is 6 cycles in for me, so I’m hoping this is it (still getting negative tests, BTW, but it’s also quite early to test still). Temps are skyrocketing.
You people give me some hope. KUDOS TO YOU GUYS.

Commenting to follow. I know everyone is different but it’s interesting to read all the individual symptoms. I feel like there’s literally no way to know in advance, but it’s good to read about your experiences looking back after the BFP (haven’t had one yet).

Completely identical! I was so convinced I was going to get my period that I started crying in Ikea… And then immediately wondered if maybe I was pregnant, after all! (I was! BFP 2 days later)

My nipples were really sore. It was normal for me to have sore boobs before AF, but I hadn’t had sore nipples like that before. And they were ALWAYS hard.

@BrandNewBride: O no, that’s so sad! Isn’t it a bitch that pregnancy symptoms can totally mimic AF symptoms? Glad you got your BFP though!

For me it was different. When I was on the pill I never got symptoms, no cramps, nothing. I was so lucky. I went off the pill and I still had almost no symptos, except 1-2 days (around 7DPO) before AF my boobs would be a little bit sore.
When I got my BFP, my boobs started hurting at 4DPO. A LOT. I had trouble sleeping and woke up one morning with a metal taste in my mouth. I thought it was very strange and then I just had this sense that I was pregnant. Instinct I guess 🙂

@CookieCreamCakes: I just got my BFP yesterday and honestly the symptoms were the same as AF. I always get sore boobs, mood swings, and phantom cramps (cramps that start a few days before my period). The only thin different was that I was late.
