I got married in a church, but I didn't do anything to the pews/aisle. I was really happy that we saved the money because I really didn't miss it. Once there are tons of people sitting there, you don't notice flower petals or aisle flowers.
Ours was pretty basic. We had pew bows lining the aisle, and gold satin sashes on the front row of seats.

I think I have some great visuals for you. Our main color was blue too and our ceremony site was beautiful outdoors, but just needed a little something... We used shepherd's hooks and hung mason jars with flowers from blue ribbon. It was simple, affordable, and easy. The flowers I got last minute from the grocery store (seriously) - nothing specific, just a variety of blues, whites, and lime greens for some pop.
Beach Wedding...

with some orange and yellow flower petals tossed down the isle...
Part of the aisle is gravel, which is unfortunate, but the rest is brick. I will have large mason jars with fresh cut flowers on the ground at every other chair.

Dark purple petals on cobblestone, the top center pic is our venue and the one below it is my inspiration. Sorry so tiny, this is all I have to show at work :)
i am doing a white runner with our monogram of course and sewing damask fabric on the edges for a pop of color and tie into our damask theme
If I were engaged and planning a wedding...I would not want anything on the aisle floor. I don't want to slip and fall down! I would probably just have some pomanders hanging over like every other pew (yes, I have a church in mind). If it were in the evening, I think I'd put a white votive in a clear holder at the end of every pew. Low cost, but pretty look overall.
@rachel077: OMG I love that idea!! lol, I wonder if I could pull that off at our venue...only hesitant because our venue is near the water and its may. Wondering if the wind would blow away the rose petals?
I found little tin buckets and painted them pink to put flowers in.
and we had our flower girl throw pink petals to line the aisle.

I saw a picture of my ceremony site and it looks pretty but without pop. It's outdoors, very green (hills, trees, fields). I'm pretty simple, but I think it needs something. Does anyone have pictures / inspiration photos or links of aisles? Flowers or ribbons tied to chairs (something natural rather than pomanders)? Lining the aisle with petals or branches? I'm using blues for color.
