My fabulous Future Mother-In-Law has done an awesome job trying to work with her stylist to get us hair appointments at her home (the stylist normally works at a salon but will go to a house to work). But the deal isn’t as great as I thought it might be, for a few reasons.
The price is going to be about $75 for each of us – this is actually cheaper than the salon where I have an appointment, by about $50 (I budgeted ~$100 plus tip), but the stylist will not do any cutting or washing the day of. Just the updo.
The trial would be at the home stylist’s salon, and I’m assuming it would be the salon price, about the same.
But this home stylist doesn’t do contracts. Which makes me nervous, because what if something happens and she doesn’t make it? Then we’ll need to find 5 appointments for updos. On a Sat morning. In May. But I feel bad asking that because my Future Mother-In-Law has gone to her for years.
Of course, all of this is assuming I’m happy with the trial, but I’m wondering if I should just go with the salon and save myself the worry.

hmmm…personally, I think going to the salon can be a really fun experience, and it sounds like there will be more than one person there who is able to work with you and your BMs. I don’t trust someone who doesn’t sign a contract so I know I would go to the salon for that added piece of mind…

Good point. I think my FMIL/FSIL are planning to do the home thing, so it would just be my mom, sister, and me who are the question marks. One Bridesmaid or Best Man has already said she wants to go to the salon no matter what. So we’re all scattered atm. :

I’d go with the salon as well. It will get rid of any worries and you know you will get what you want.

I would just go to the salon. Weddings have enough stress as it is, so elimininating any source of stress would be a good idea, IMO.

We all went to the Salon and it was really a blast! For your own peace of mind I would go with the Salon for sure!

I’d go with your salon who you know will do contracts for the rest of the bridal party and just use your FMILs stylist for yourself. Then you know that there is a guarantee that someone will be there to do most of the hair, and if FMILs stylist flakes you can use one of thew BMs stylists, and then only have to find one stylist for one Bridesmaid or Best Man.
