canadian-b33:  I would have said take a long holiday but if your husband doesn’t get that time off too then just a short one I guess. I would sort stuff out around my home – de clutter, do very thorough cleans etc. Do some of my cake decorating to improve skills and make some extra cash! Read books and do lots of active stuff during the day – walks/hikes etc, extra gym classes.

I’m a teacher, so…all my vacation time is at the same time.  Here’s what I’m doing this summer:

two week vacation

summer school, curriculum writing, and tutoring throughout July

visit parents for two weeks

then school starts again!  EEK.

I always work throughout the summer, though, since, you know, teacher pay.  But I like to just spend time in the sun, relax, and read.  I also like to watch the Tour de France, which inspires me to ride my bike (though definitely not like they do in the Tour!!).

canadian-b33:  Read and become a temporary pro athlete! Not as in getting paid, but full time training! I’d enter an ultra marathon or half ironman and then spend 6 hours a day making myself an even more badass speed machine. Also, sleeping in. That would be heaven.

canadian-b33:  I’m so jealous of all of that time off! In addition to your list, I’d probably try to get things done around the house (organize, clean out our closets, drop off donations, etc.). I’d also try find a temporary volunteer gig. I used to volunteer at libraries and shelters over the summer when I was a student, so I’m sure you can find a place that would appreciate some extra help 1-2x a week for awhile.

canadian-b33:  The first week, I would sit on my butt and do nothing. The second and third weeks, I would work on all the home improvement projects that are half-done, for the 4th, 5th, and half of the 6th week I would go on vacation, and for the last half of the last week, I would sit on my butt again.

I have lofty goals, I know 😉

It would all depend on money but a holidau somewhere would be on the cards. If SO was only free for 1 week I would try to dejunk  / clean house (but this wouldn’t take long) cook, read but truth be told, I am so used to working all the time I would find it difficult to fill my time, so maybe volunteer somewhere 🙂

I’d learn something new, for examle, I’d love to do a sign language course or learn to crochet (I can knit but crochet confuses me!), or a short literature course or something.

Definitely organize various rooms in the house, do some yardwork and maybe try my hand at growing some herbs/veggies. Work out, try some new recipes and read some. I love to be outside though, so I know if I had 6 weeks off I would be at the pool as much as possible enjoying the good life.

canadian-b33:  Start a garden.  The first few weeks take the most work.
