In my opinion, a friendship is not diminished by distance. If you feel something is off, say something about it kindly. Even something as simple as asking, “is everything okay, because you seem a little quiet recently?” It would be better to ask, and her say nothing is wrong; than for her to be going through a hard time, and think you don’t care.

I would ask her. Don’t assume anything, but just ask her what’s going on in her life and if everything is ok. Tell her you don’t feel like you talk to her as much any more. If she gives you a short answer I wouldn’t prod, but I would tell her that you guys have been friends for a long time and that you are always there for her when she needs to talk to someone. Whatever you do, don’t mention anything wedding unless she asks. Be genuinely concerned for what is going on with her.

I would ask her what’s up.  But not in a mean way.  Just ask her how everything is going, is there anything stressing her out, any huge changes in her life lately.  Ask her if she’s just busy or if there’s a reason behind your feeling that she’s being distant.

I would ask her. It shouldn’t be confrontational – I think the most dramatic ways of asking would be via e-mail or text, or making this big deal about how she has seemed different lately. Next time you talk on the phone, just say, “You’ve seemed a little off the last few times we talked, is anything going on you wanna talk about? I know you might just be tired from work and all that, but just thought I’d ask to make sure you’re okay…”
