I have been trying to find some cake stands for our yummy cheesecake dessert and it’s tough. I absolutely hate the look of the stands in my price range which are either all cold metal or clear glass…so I thought "I guess this will be a DIY". I stumbled upon this idea and while its not my favorite, I do like them and I can make three of them for under 50 bucks. So what do you think of these cake stands?

I agree with contrarymary-as long as they match your theme, go for it!

They are awesome!! I actually made my own cake stands to coordinate with my wedding colors of black and white. They were very easy and the cost? I made 2 cake stands for UNDER $20.
Check out my how to blog posting on it:

Thanks for posting a link to your blog! It’s nice to see another picture of how this project can turn out. They are awesome! I wish wish wish there was an Ikea in my area…or even state!
These will actually go well with our style. We are doing a casual outdoor reception with earthy tones, lots of potted greenery and great weaved baskets. I think dark brown or a green ceramic stand would fit well.
Thanks for all the comments!

I think they’re adorable. You can make several (not just 3) for under $50 because they’re just a regular plate attached to an upside down cereal bowl with Epoxy glue.

Ember78: Ya, I know the price can be lower or make more, but the plates and bowls we want to use plus the epoxy and ribbon are about that price. Good point though.
