I think we're doing Louis Armstrong's version of "La Vie en Rose."
I really wanted to do Buddy Holly's "Now We're One," but it may be hard to dance to in front of a large group of people!

@Ferris Wheel- We decided to make that our final song of the night, I think it'll be a nice end. I tried to convince FI to make it our first dance song, but....
He completely insisted on Frank Sinatra's "Call Me Irresponsible". He LOVES FS, and I just couldn't tell him no. :)
The first dance song we picked is called "If I had my way (I would be with you now)" by Lisa Bastoni. It's about being in a LDR, and it quickly became "our song" when we started dating. Unbeknownst to fizicsGuy, his wedding present is a different version of this song. Lisa is the awesomest, most talented ever, and she wrote and recorded "Now I've found my way (and I'm here with you now)" just for us! I think this might be the part of the wedding I'm most excited about...apart from, you know, getting married :)

Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton. I know it's probably overused but it's actually our song so I wouldn't have it any other way!
We danced to Somersault by Zero 7. We had the most amazing concert experience with them early in our relationship -- they're the best! And we named one of our cats after Sia Furler, the vocalist who sings this track, so it just seemed right.
Either "All the Way" by Celine Dion and Frank Sinatra or "Everything," "The More I See you," or "A Song for You" by Michael Buble. My FH is pulling for Frank Sinatra but I've been a fan of Michael Buble for almost ten years.
We danced to "Let it be me" sung by Rosie Thomas. I love her and the song--and that it was such a unique first dance song!
I sang the whole thing to my hubs while we danced!

Ours was "Someone Like You" by Van Morrison, my husband picked out the song for us :)
We are thinking that we will dance to "Green Eyes" by Coldplay. It is one of their lesser known songs, but FI was insistent that I listen to it and after I did I was sold. We are just not entirely sure that it will be easy enough to dance to.
We are still debating but I really like The Closer I get to You as performed by Beyonce and the Late Great Luther Vandross....link below
Right now, we think ours will be the Edith Piaf versino of "La Vie En Rose" FH said he wants a song you need to do a dance to (not just do a swaying slow-dance...so like a waltz or something similar). We've got lots of time to decide, but right now, that's the one we both love.
We sort of had two. He surprised me as we were walking down the aisle with the band playing "I'm a Believer", so we danced to that when we got to the end of the aisle and our official first dance was "Someone Exactly Like You"
It'll most likely be 'Fade Into You' by Mazzy Star.

@RachelLeigh: Green Eyes is one of my favorite Coldplay songs! I think it is a perfect first dance song, sweet and simple and not too famous (LOL bonus points if you have green eyes ;)). The idea to use it popped into my head for about 3 minutes, but alas FI hates Coldplay so I didn't even bring it up!

@butterywaffles: That was our first dance song!!! I love Ingird Michelson and the "The Way I Am" has the perfect sentiment for us.
Another great perk to choosing that song was that it was the PERFECT length for a "first dance." We didn't want to be on the dancefloor too long or too short - this was just right. Plus tons of people told us how great it was to hear a more "non-traditional" first dance song.

I don't know if we're going to have a first dance, per se. But one song we're both really in agreeance on having played is "Let it Be Me" by Ray LaMontagne. Its gorgeous.

I'm still in the early stages of planning, but I've been thinking about this a lot. I think we'll do Ingrid Michaelson's "The Way I Am" because I used to listen to it all the time before I'd go meet my guy for our dinner dates. Do you already know your first dance song?
