... may I please come over for dinner? That sounds awesome. I need to go to the grocery store and get something, otherwise it will be tuna salad for me (on a plate... no bread in the house!)

Lol!!! Of course!! M would probably have a coronary if there were no bread in the house he's so funny!! I just put the chicken in the oven and my 8 year old just had a yummy snack of hamburger helper (dinner from last night)... i have to get a great mac and cheese recipe though I am yearning to make it and perhaps bring it over his mom's for thanksgiving!! (and she's a great cook so i'm nervous about that)!!

btw tuna salad and saltine crackers is my FAVORITE snack with yummy dill pickles!!!sigh hmmm maybe that's what i'll treat myself to tomorrow for lunch!

lol it's basically instant pasta, a sauce and ground beef.

chicken mignon and salad.. sounds so yummy and grown up!! i don't know if m would like that though because he has a very downhome taste palette, but he may go for that... do you have alternatives to make it like would turkey bacon be okay?

We celebrated my dad's birthday last night with steak, so we're making fajitas with the leftovers.  I'm so glad that I don't have to THINK (since we haven't really been putting meals together for almost a week already).

oh the fajitias sound soo yummy!!! i think i should actually probably begin trying to make a weekly menu it's so much easier than trying to figure out what to coook on a day to day basis. I am sincerely considering using the crock pot as was suggested by missleah in the engagement chicken thread....

i plan my meals weekly - means that i have everything in the house and no take out.  i nearly broke my ankle last monday and because ive been uable to cook we had hungry jacks at least twice - yikes, so back to making meals because i can finally stand long enough to cook

i have a blackboard in the kitchen that i write the weeks meals on so i dont have to think too hard when i get home

wow I wish I knew how to make something to have for dinner! It took me and FH an hour to think of what we wanted for dinner and still came up with nothing. So we had sandwwiches (turkey for me and roastbeef for him) and mac salad. Oh!- the mac salad is store bought because I don't know how to make it.

How did you guys become such good cooks? Or even come up with ideas for dinner? If it as up to me it would always be toast or spaghetti-o's. I need help.

i couldnt boil water before my hubby - but since then ive discovered my inner betty crocker/martha and kicked hubby out of "my" kitchen and with the help of some simple receipe books/sites ive come a long way.   i even keep a folder with my fav receipes in them - oh, but i need a pic of the meal before i start cooking it, if it doesnt have a picture of how its suppose to look when finished i dont even try cooking it

helps we dont own a microwave - so we have zero frozen meals and no left overs, hubby hates leftovers.

Today is my birthday so I'm eating like I'm not wedding planning! The FI just left to get fried chicken, mac and cheese, biscuits and spiced apples from a mom and pop restaurant. I might even run out for a Krispy Kreme later.

Sigh, tomorrow - it's back to eating healthy food.

@jspeby - buy cookbooks! They really help until you get the swing of things!

i couldn't cook before i met m, although i always wanted to learn how! i will say that since i stopped working outside of the home in april i have cooked more (the cleaning i am still working on because well we have tons of stuff that needs to be unpacked!!!

i usually find my recipes on the internet. but i really want to get patty labelle's recipe book, but i think i may "borrow" some from my mom when i go home for christmas.  there is this cool thing you can do on campbell's soup, you can just type in what things you have in the fridge and pantry and it will pull up what you can make for dinner! i love it!!

roasted chicken, lo-cal french bread roll, sweet corn and wild rice! mm, gotta fit into that wedding dress! Ashamed that there is no green veggie in there though... I should probably have made one. oh well. Oh, and 1/2 cup chocolate fudge brownie Edy's Yogurt Blast ice cream... SO GOOD! (Alternately, 60 cal sugar free fat free Jello Boston Cream pie pudding cups are delicious)

@crebre... I use my crockpot at least twice a week. It is SO FAST in the morning! But I will say, watch out for pork loin/pork loin chops, because they dry out in there no matter what I do. Everything else turns out delicious!

P.S. I would love to participate in the recipe exchange ... once I'm a newlywed - of course. I have under a month and so I'm not cooking anything ... just protein shakes, dark chocolate and salads =) haha Maybe a fish at the restaurant. I haven't learned to really cook real food yet.

Omg. Chocolate pie? I love birthdays, my mom makes amazing chocolate cake homemade for me. It's the best ever.

Happy birthday, Laylabelle! Calories don't count on birthdays. :)

We had pizza and junky food for dinner. It's fiance's thing when there's a Packer game on - eat cheese and crackers and "fun food" and watch the game... Monday Night Football. I'm having fun watching him jump up and scream at random intervals.
