I have been MIA for a few months while my husband and I went on our honeymoon, and sold our old house and bought a new one and moved. It’s been a CRAZY summer. We are finally on track and now TTC. We decided this is the month to officially start TTC, even though I stopped my birth control after the wedding 6 months ago. Here’s my problem, I am now 3 weeks late, have taken 10 HPT, and all were negative, not even a hint of another line. I do not FEEL ANY different than I normally do, no symptoms at all. i know everyone is different but I don’t think I am pregnant. I have been NEVER missed a period before and have been complerelt regular since I stopped my BC in April. I went yesterday for a blood test, and will get the result today, but I am almost certain I am not pregnant. Last month was a VERY stressful month for us though with moving and I am a teacher and went back to work after having the summer off. Could the stress be the reason for the delayed period? I know once the dr calls today with the results I will still wonder what is going on if it’s negative and I will have to wait until I can get in to see her to talk to her so I am seeing if anything like this happened to anyone else?

As far as I know, stress could absolutely be the reason for a missed or delayed period. Hopefully your doctor can explain to you what is happening! Best of luck!

Three weeks IS a late period..but with your negative HPTs I don’t know what’s going on either. One thing TTC has taught me is that our bodies (despite our best efforts) are going to do whatever the hell they feel like doing, much to our annoyance! I do hope it’s a positive result – but if not, I hope your body gets back into it’s swing of things and you get your bfp very soon. And congrats on your new house 🙂

When I went off the pill a couple years ago (I’m back on again) I was really regular and then suddenly would go forever without a period. I definitely wasn’t pregnant (I was single). I think we’d be surprised by how long it takes for our bodies to adjust to not being on the pill.
Also – that with stress, it probably explains it!

It’s very possible that due to the stress, you didn’t ovulate, and have pretty much started you whole cycle over without a period. No ouvlation = no period.
Of course, it wouldn’t hurt to see your doctor for a blood test, just to rule out pregnancy, but I would definitely say stress could be the culprit!

Just got the blood test result. negative as I suspected. I didn’t think about that if I didn’t ovulate last month it meant I wouldn’t have a period. I wonder why I am not ovulating though? I will wait a month and see what happens before rushing to talk to my dr. SInce we are just now in the mind set to start trying I am ok with it not happening right away:)
Thanks for all the help:)

@mjwyatt84: You might have had an annovulatory cycle. Sometimes those will shorten your cycle, sometimes lengthen. It might just have been an off cycle where you ovulated later than typical. Good luck!
