As I understand it, it's your first name initial on the left, in the middle (and usually larger) is his last name initial (if you are taking his last name, which I assume you are), and then his first name initial. So if your name is Jane, his name is Paul and his last name is Smith:

when you do a monogram is it your first initial his first inital and the initial of his last name?
